There's a bearing in the back of the basket. Then the clutch is' in' it lets the basket spin on the gearbox input shaft. When clutch is out, baskets locked to the shaft so it doesn't turn.
Riding the clutch wears that bearing.
29 years of Learner abuse its probably a little sloppy.
It may be user serviceable if you overhaul the clutch; new plates & springs are only £20-£25 ISTR. No idea how much a basket bearing might be. Maybe a fiver? ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
