I've got a bantu which I picked up second hand. I've changed a fair few parts on it but it takes a real bashing having just come back from Afan!

Great value for money.

Very good bike. Not as good as the Old 2011/2012 one due to that having air forks, but still a very good bike.

Don't be put off by Halfords. Quality specced bikes, put together by Monkeys in some (not all) stores.

Buy one, and if it gives you piece of mind get a LBS to give it a once over.

Ask Ghost if he'll sell you this bike:

I borrowed it from him the other week and it was fine (I didn't break it jumping it!), I bet it'd be cheaper than a Halfords Voodoo bike and it was great when I rode it.

Sorry, had a bit of a mad weekend.

That photo was taken at Coed Y Brenin near Dolgellau. It's a big trail centre with miles and miles of official MTB trails, it has a skills area, proper car park and a good visitor centre with a decent bike shop.

There are loads of trails in North Wales. Just off the top of my head is:

Coed Y Brenin
Coed Llandegla
Marin Trail, Llanrwst
Penmachno Trails

And if you're more downhill minded:

Antur Stiniog, Blaenau Ffestiniog
Revolution Bikepark, Llangynog
Nant Gwrtheryn

Not to mention the wealth of unofficial trails in and around Snowdonia.

I'm back in Berlin now and will be for a while. We're due our first baby in a couple of months so travel isn't very high on our agenda! Feel free to PM for info on North Wales mountain biking though Thumbs Up
