Sounds like a recipe for some free vouchers. Mr. Green

Okay you'll have to go and spend them in a different store, but ah well, free stuff is free stuff. Mr. Green

Good point but its all a bit trivial no matter what a prick he was and I know from personal experience what a pain it is when someone makes a complaint about you at work.

I thought you meant in a bike bay or similar, but... did you just dump it outside their shop on their land?

https://i62.tinypic.com/11lo10k.jpg

Bit naughty, but what a dick reaction on their part, especially if you're actually a regular customer.

You wonder how some of these outfits stay in busine- oh, it was a Hein Gericke, you say? Rolling Eyes

OT: "Street" view is getting a bit sinister.

Just in front next to a couple of other bikes. Their argument is that if its parked on the flagstones its on J&S property and therefore they are liable for it and so they don't want that liabilty unless you're shopping or browsing there. I'm not sure that's true given every other shop you park at has signs up telling you how they're not responsible for parked vehicles even in their carpark. JnS also have parking round the side as well but I park up in front because I can see my bike from the client I visits flat and I assumed it would be safer parked under the noses of some other bikers. I can understand that the manager of the shop has a responsibility to protect JnS from potential risks and so may take the decision that someone not entering the shop and leaving their bike outside is exposing JnS to risk. However an assesment of risk also has to include likely hood and weigh against othere risks and associated likelyhood. The fact is the likelyhood of my bike being parked on their few square meters resulting in some kittenocide of massive proportion with a resultant cost in the thousands is practically nill. On the other hand the likelyhood of the risk of pissing off a customer and losing hundreds in business is almost one hundred percent. So the manager rather than attending to his duties has in fact failed in protecting JnS and has damaged their revenue. Not by much admitedly as all I was thinking of getting from them soon was a new disc lock and a leather jacket in a couple of months, but still the point remains.

Sounds like one of those petrol station Stasi giving it "Security... petrol fumes... age verification... ancient Mayan curse" about helmets. Very Happy

A bike being on the bit of ground that's the shops property and not on the pavement is a valid defence if a council parking ticket is issued.

I'm sure they have just as much legal right as I would if someone tried to park in my garden but I was amazed over the two square meters of space I was using they would make such an issue of it.

How many times have you parked outside any shop, and not gone inside? Would you consider all those actions of a prick? Or would you, think meh! It's my choice...I park where I want? Cool

Interesting that they've banned you from going inside, but they haven't banned you from parking outside. Thinking

Manager probably thought your bike parked there and you not shopping was stopping another biker parking there and spending money.

Busy was it Wink
