I'm slightly getting fed up because it's been 3 months without bike now and I still cannot find the one I want. I'm even considering to get one of these tomorrow...

https://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e85/motorcyclesJZ/Random/2005cbr1000rr-kit-blue_zpse15d9954.jpg

Not a thief magnet but maybe that's a good thing. Price over £4.5k, mileage 6k, from a dealer only 10 miles away. Saves me hassle and worries of buying privately too. I don't really have that much time to go and view the bikes.

The colour scheme is giving me second thoughts but I don't find it bad looking.. it's just another blue'ish bike and I was really not going to get a blue bike again. Maybe I'm just meant to have blue bikes Laughing

Your thoughts about the colour scheme?

I'll be viewing a few bikes today. One of them is this blue Fireblade.

I'm not one for modern bikes, but I kinda like it. Not sure I'd pay that much for a bike tho. There are some advantages of liking 80s bikes Very Happy

Like the paint scheme, however would buy privately. Brother was selling his red/white/blue Fireblade for £3500 on an 05 plate.

Doesn't really take any mroe time to do it privately, took me ~1 week to get my Triple from a dealer but could have got private in a day or so.

These guys have already serviced the bike so it's ready to go today. Mileage seems to be genuine, 2 owners. Last one some eldery pensioner for 4 years lol The bike is mint, just the colour issue Wink

I'm still trying to view one 06 Fireblade privately and locally. 11k miles and same price.

Prices are high at the moment. Even privately I can't find anything for less than £4k with less than 15k miles in 50 mile radius from my home.

Viewing and buying bikes is quite a logistics issue with wife working when I have days off and 2 young children to look after Wink

Bikes > wife + kids.

Just saying, when she doesn't put out, you know Mr(s?) CBR will, all the time, every time.

Buy a spare reg/rec if you do buy the bike and keep under the rear cowl. Wire in a voltage display to the battery and when it spikes over 15v or stays under 13, swap the reg/rec over.

But no, if you like it and its got some goodies on there such as an exhaust, mandatory requirement... then grab it. Nice enough bikes, but the GSXR of the era is far superior!

Colour looks fine to me, although at first glance I though "Gixxer". Suzuki do kind of own that scheme.

Remember that asking price isn't selling price. Bring cash, show cash, ride away bargain.

You mean £600 less.

Whats this new scratch, you've just lost another £50.

Do that... I bargained a new rear tyre, chain and sprox, FULL service and MOT for my triple and got £350 off Laughing

On that note, I'd highly recommend one, or a Daytona 675... nothing has come close to the fun/usable factor Thumbs Up

Nothing prevents you from changing the colour, a fairing kit from China for an RR5 is £200-£400 and a stamp to inform the DVLA, keep the old fairings or sell them and you'll make most of that back.

Praying Hope so as it is pricey.

Then that insurance, I can insure 4 R1's for that price, I'm younger and in the ghetto.

Owns his own house or at least mortgages.
Should be ~£150 tops Sad

Not full price.. got 200 quid off (ok not much but always something) + got a decent rain cover on top of that - Oxford Stormex.

The bike is not kept on the road but I insured it as "kept on the road". I couldn't find "private property" option (confused com). I was a bit in a hurry yes. I may correct it later, but I don't expect miracles. And yes insurance wise my area is rated as F. So not good.

I was not the only one who wanted to buy it. There was another guy testing it. We both agreed it was expensive.. but both wanted it regardless haha. I just did a quick cheeky offer just after he tested the bike.

So the bike was expensive and it was not at the same time when two guys were almost fighting to get it.. depends on point of view.

I'm happy it's over.

At the end of the day if YOU are happy with the deal then it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks. Good on you for going out and buying it. I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from it.

With regards this 'other buyer' - I would take that with a pinch of salt. It was more than likely a ploy by the garage to force your hand to buy it. This other guy will have been someone the garage knows who does this all the time when someone is interested in a bike (classic sales technique) makes you think you will lose out if you dilly dally and so more often than not will push people into making the deal rather than "ill go away and think about it".

I remember buying a car from a garage and they did similar to me...they just so happened to have a buyer call at the very moment I was in the showroom and enquire about that very car..whilst the salesman spoke loudly on the phone so I could hear.....

I basically called his bluff and offered him what I was willing to pay and gave my phone number for him to call me if he could do the deal.....I then proceeded to tell him I was due to drive home (100 miles) within the hour so he'd have to be quick.....15 minutes later he called to accept.

But yeah....enjoy the bike. What year/model is it?

Looks like an 05 Blade, they are good fun, only problem I really head of was the stator and reg/rec going tits up.

Rather linear power delivery but fun all the same. 06 GSXR would be the pick of the litre bunch though Sad
