I'm debating making this guy https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CG-125-1991-Pair-Of-Wheels-/390899591153?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item5b036e67f1 on offer on his rusty wheels, to respray and have rebuilt.

My question is, will Wickes rattle can jobbies hold up for any length of time? (covered outside all year round)
I can do 30 coats if that's what it takes.

If not, whats my best option for repainting?
Long-lasting adhesion is way more important to me than aesthetics.

Isn't plastidip mean't to be purely temporary?
My main concern is the huge chain through the rim, would it not scrape Plastidip off in no time? Question

Painted my car wheels with rattle cans and held up perfect. Was a lot of prep work and spraying though!

For ease and if your not too fussed on finish, quick sand and then plastidip

Fuck me brah! Ninety four boof for some rusty CG wheels? That is well steep. I won two rust free C90 wheels, hubs & axles fitted with decent motocross tyres for £50 on eBay & I thought that was fairly pricey. Surely you can do better? I just looked in my wheel dept for 18" CG wheels but I only have (prob Chinese) alloy ones so no good for you. There is a 17" rear but I'm wanting that for a project & the rest are Cub/CB175/250 & very rusty. Offer £70 max. I would sell a reasonable/useable CG wheel for £20. £30 if fitted with a decent tyre & £40 with tyre, hub & axle. Anything that is rusty &/or needs work has gotta go for less...

Yeah tbh, its mainly the rims and hubs I'm after, thinking new spokes and nips, and obviously respray the rims (so worth less to me).

Been watching Ebay for a month or 2 now, still not a lot on there.
Will probably offer him what the hubs are worth to me, and a little more for the rims in need of work.

The logic behind replacing the wheels entirely is that I need the bike to get to and from work, and would rather pay a bit more to get new wheels built with new spokes and tyres, then trued (miles away).
Then I can hot swap them in a day. (in theory!)

Iain, what model Triumph is that?
Nice bike, looks like it could suit my desire for a future on-road/off-road bike.

Definately plastidip.

Whilst it is temporary, it's also very cheap and easy to re-apply Wink

Bit of wire wool and some WD40 and those rims will come up fine.
