nsr125r jc22 water in the cylinder?

So I removed my JC22 engine, stripped it completely down and replaced an oil seal and checked the piston size for future reference, put it all back together and fired her up, after about 5 seconds the engine cut out and water was squirting from the exhaust port sides (where the exhaust joins the engine) switched it off and waited 5 minutes, gave it a quick blast again (didn't want to push it in case I got hydrologic compression on the crank ) this made more water squirt out of the exhaust port.


Any Ideas what I could have missed that would cause this or what to check for, could do without taking then engine out again but I guess I may have to now?

Yep,
its going to be coming from either the top or bottom gasket on the cylinder or if you're really unlucky the cylinder may have cracked.
Best best, least faff would be to get the head off and look for any obvious signs that the head gasket is letting water through (may not be so easy if the engine hasn't run, then get the cylinder off to check it and the base gasket
