Hi Guys

I am a student studying in Dubai. Me and my colleagues are making a formula prototype race car. Many of you might have heard about Formula SAE.

Our first year car involved a CBR600 1992 model converted to EFI using motec m4.

This year we plan to focus on reducing weight and improved chassis design.

Want to know your reviews on KTM 250 SX-F 2015.

Is it viable for a formula type car which would weigh around 200kg?

Also i noticed it is a single cylinder engine.

Can you recommend any other engine that would weigh less and be just enough for the competition. (We hoping for a twin cylinder engine with 360 deg firing order)

What are the rules you are limited by?
I would go for the biggest 2 stroke I could if you want light weight.
The SX-F is high revving and doesn't make THAT much power - yo

That is a 4 cylinder engine and pricey. Razz

Is there any better engine: lighter, easy maintenance and enough to handle 200kg.

I'm part of the same thing for sydney uni. I wouldn't say I'm a particularly active member though, I go there to machine some stuff when I have a bit of time.

Previous years have used a GSXR600 engine, but the last 2 have used the SXV550 engine, which apparently runs pretty well with the 25mm or so inlet restriction, assuming you're following the same regs.

They generally look the same, but this is one of the older ones.
