Modern bike that has fallen from the desirable radar

Early to be talking about it but time is coming to be thinking about my next winter hack. This time i would like to take things a bit more into the mid to late 2000's decade and with a keen price & top reliability being sought that once highly popular model which has now fallen from favor due to what ever reason they do be it current fashion, just out of the majority licencing category or what ever - is the one i'll be wanting (and of course avoiding the once a turkey always a turkey usual suspects that get branded hack just because they are reliable but are so darn dull) - i always find the time of year coming up quite exciting to be looking for a bike as the summer riders start to offload this years purchases

I'd stick with early 00s and go for something like a J/A model ZX6R - even a B1H if you've got the cash and can handle the riding position.
May be older, but if you want a bit of soul, they'll have a lot more than a new commuter and generally be better specced as far as engine and handling go.

If you are 5'10+ a TDM 900 will fit the bill, the UK didn't seem to like them, but a lot of bike for the money.

The original Multistrada was the darling of the press for a couple of years, then disappeared without trace. It's not a looker but apparently does stuff well.

I'd get a divvy. Never had one, but look solid/dropable etc.

DUcati ST2 and ST4 alongside the Multistrada (although thats what I'm looking at as a potential next bike).

Also consider Kawa Z750. Seem to have plummeted in price and popularity.

Mate has the TDM900, came with quick on\off panniers makes a good touring bike.

Straight up riding and comfortable for long trips, has about 27k on the clock, been across the Pyrenees and back and plenty of other trips, for 2 years he used it as a summer\winter work commuter.

Trouble free and his bike looks very nice, especially with the panniers unclipped, he does take very good care of it what with washing and waxing and all, he does not spoil it maintenance wise, just the book schedule.

I'm 5' 8" and manage to plant my soles down, I don't get both heels down at the same time.
