Recently our world has been turned upside down.
I really enjoy being a pillion &y hubby loves taking me out on the bike & he now prefers it when I am on the back.
I struggle due to pain in my neck & shoulder so we don't go very far but we are happy with this. But the pain has got so bad that I have had to limit it. So had another X-ray of my shoulder & neck. Go to GP to be told by him that they have found 'something very worrying' & I have to have brain scan! You can imagine I was totally shocked & we are hoping its nothing too serious. (i.e big C). I was expecting to be told I needed more physio.
Now off work for a while as I have been feeling unwell for a while. |

When doctors get a worrying result from an x-ray they assume the x-ray is wrong, hence the brain scan. Exactly the same thing happened to my brother in law once. He'd had a minor accident, head x-ray showed a black spot in his brain, ct scan however came up clean. So don't panic.
Cancer isn't as much to worry about as people imagine, sure forty years ago almost any cancer was a death sentence, that is not the case nowadays.
I'll bet I'm far from being the only BCFer whose had cancer and survived.
CT and MRI scans are a piece of piss nowadays. Back in my day it was like a cross between a medical bondage scene, Carry on Doctor and a botched lethal injection execution. Your biggest problem will be staying awake through it, the who process is incredibly relaxing. ____________________ They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa, hey-hey,

Brain scans are boring, the only concerning part of a CAT scan is that the staff wear big heavy lead lined apron things and when the scan is being done they're taking shelter in a separate room where they're safe from the radiation.
This of course being because one dose of radiation isn't a problem for the patient but the staff being there all day every day would be less healthy.
You lie on the bench thing, they strap your head in place (or put cushions around it, I forget) and then the bench slides into a big tube thing which makes lots of noises whilst it takes all the scans. MRI is a lot noisier but they're both much the same, ie harmless and boring. |
