Hold the spamwagon.

It's been quite helpful having a few corporate accounts on the forum, lest we forget the helpful guy from motad, and opioils with their discounts.

Lets not spam rate the account into oblivion before they've actually posted any spam? Might actually be a helpful user yet?

I have 2 Scarla Q2s

One will stop charge after a while of being on charge (full?)

The other won't and constantly charges.

Will this damage the battery?

Hi
First of all, are you using the same charger to charge both units?
If not try the other charger on the unit that is showing red all the time as it may be faulty and only trickle charging.
If you are using the same charger on both then the unit may need a re-set:
put the unit into search mode on the on/off button when it is flashing red/blue, press and hold the volume up button until it flashes 3 times red and turns off, then try to recharge again.
If the same problem still happens then it looks like the battery could be on it's last legs, however it may take longer to charge but still could last a long time, it should not damage the battery as they are Lithium ion and should be fine.
Let me know how you get on.
Regards.
Richard

Hi Map

I don't know if any of you go to the BMF or NEC Motorcycle shows, if so you will have seen me on M&P's stand selling Scala on behalf of M&P i am the sales rep for Pama & Co who are the Importers of Scala Rider in the UK, I have been visiting Motorcycle shops promoting Scala for 7 years, I will be semi retired in Sept 2014 and will be retailing Scala myself all being well in Oct 2014, I will NOT be selling or promoting anything within this forum, I am here to help those who use Scala products and offer advice if needed..I think i know a fair amount about the product and if you are good at something then why not continue doing it Smile
Are we happy with the reply ..I hope so Smile
Regards.

Links to phone for calls, music, voice dialling.

Links to GPS

Can be hard wired to an MP3

Apparently has FM radio though I've never tried.

Also they give you a 1/3rd refund when you complain it was false advertised as having intercom (the actual intercom enabled one costs a few quid more and also does text to speech and a few other things).

Why are the batteries in newer units poo?

My old scala fm could be used for 5 8hr+ days connected via bluetooth to sat nav but my q1 gives up in a day and a half, if i'm lucky.

Use the radio and it doesn't last 6hrs.

Well I cannot comment on something I know nothing about, it appears you have what I call a billy no mates model (solo rider)

So if this is the case then the equivalent will be the QZ or Q1..
I would be surprised if it was IP67 Certified water & dust proof, soft ware upgradable, Has FM Radio with RDS, Hot dial number (call emergency services at the tap of a button), Click to link (spontaneous connection to other Scala headsets without pairing), sharing music (rider to pillion from one A2DP Device) , A2DP Bluetooth, 10 hours talk time, compatible with Triumph & BMW Systems, Schuberth & Shoi Bluetooth systems, fully compatible, has Multi point Bluetooth connectivity (2 phones on one headset), interchangeable Hybrid Boom & Cord Mic, Interchangeable speakers (use your own moulded earpieces: has a direct 3.5 jack on the audio kit) and of course will pair to ANY Motorcycle Sat Nav, and ANY Mobile phone, and has Cable entry MP3 Connection, in think i covered all Smile
At the end of the day if your headset does what it says and you are happy with it then I cannot argue, however you do get what you pay for

Hi

The older Solo FM you had was not RDS the newer Models with FM Radio are RDS and use more battery as they are always searching for the strongest signal of the station you are listening to.
If you are only using the radio when local turn the RDS function off and you should save battery.
The batteries are also a little smaller as there is a lot more stuff in the headset compared to the older models, such as the RDS, AGC, VOX Software all use power.

It's very rare i use the radio.
My last set managed the first 2200 miles of a 5 day tour, my current one would have been flat by the end of the first day.

Are there any models with better battery life and less toys?

Hi Agian.
Unfortunately not, most wan't them to do everything these days, you can turn off the VOX, click to link & RDS this could help with the battery life: go here: https://www.cardosystems.com/user_files/qg/Q/MAN01001%20Q1%20EN.pdf and print off and do it manually or connect to the internet and go into your settings here: https://www.cardosystems.com/support/tutorials/q1-tutorial go to General, then community platform, connect your headset, go into settings and turn off anything you are not using, this should help with the battery power.

Regards.
