Hey,

Woke up this morning to find my bike gone. Sad

Have phoned the police and waiting on a call back from the insurers.

On the plus side, if the thief is caught riding it he'll recieve points for not displaying a front 'L' plate Thumbs Up

Jokes aside, shitty thing to happen. I've got a few friends down there, will get them to keep an eye out. You got a reg? (last 3 digits will do if you don't wanna put the full thing)

AK14 EJZ

Just had the local PCSO round who heard about it through facebook (family friend) he's took some details etc and has been keeping a look out for it.

Apparently there’s a guy round the corner who robs bikes and theres a few gone missing lately, all found though so fingers crossed!

Will have to be looking into some better security, they’ve got through the disc lock and cut a link in the chain to get that away, must've been pretty easy for them tbh which I'm a bit gutted about as it could be an expensive lesson!

how did they get through the disc lock? I always thought that was the only thing that stopped a bike getting wheeled away?

120kg of bike isn't heavy when you have 2 people who can lift the locked wheel.

Could use a hacksaw if its a cheapy one.

However, if you can't afford to lose the bike, pay the premium for security, Almax/Pragmasis, Cyclone and a cover.

You have a cheap deterrent alarm which goes mad, a cover to stop them seeing what it is and a chain to stop them if they do not give a fuck about noise. Thumbs Up

That's what I meant, I mean they would have to physically lift the bike (or wheel) off the ground to move it. So either they had loads of time to saw the disc lock off or the bike got chucked into the back of a van.

It's nuts to think the trouble these cants will go to to rob someone.

It's their job. You wouldn't expect a bike recovery service to turn up without a van (I mean, unless it's the AA).

Still not showed up Sad

Best thing is that I have TPFT insurance and the bikes on finance, which apparently is a no-no??

Phoned the finance company today and there was no mention of fully comp though, just said that I will receive a figure from the insurers, and whatever is left over I will pay myself.....I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I'll be stumping up about £200-£250, settlement figure at the min is £1700, bike brand new is £1575, its only 3 months old ffs so hopefully the insurers give us a decent payout for the thing.

Learning some expensive lessons everyday at the minute it seems!

You may have contractually agreed to have FC insurance, but what's their remedy? Just to get their money back, which they will.

I've wondered what would happen if you just stopped payments on a financed vehicle and told them "Bad news, your vehicle has been stolen. Good luck with that."

Dick move, might be on a hiding to nothing eventually, but they have deeper pockets than you.

Best of luck with the valuation. Don't let them fob you off with the price of a year-old bike.

Mentioned TPFT to the finance company and they said you did agree to FC but there's nothing we can do now, she mentioned that if I had an accident and wrote the bike off the insurance would have only covered the third party and not their asset, that's why they want you FC. I guess I kinda got lucky as I'm covered for theft so it isn't a major issue thank god.

Police popped round yesterday and said they haven't spotted it yet but that 4 bikes went missing over the same weekend, and people had reported a few guys snooping around in a van a week before Sad Looks like a van full of bikes is winging its way to Slovakia or somewhere then imo.

Really debating whether to get a new one while im in a house with no garage, seen a Y anchor for £50 online the other day though so could possibly sink that into the back garden somewhere and by a big fuck off size chain, spotlight in the garden, xena xx14 alarmed disc lock on the front, and possibly a 2nd dog...as despite my current one being the size of a small horse and very scary for a pikey scrote in the wrong garden, he sleeps like a hibernating bear and didn't wake us at all lol
