SOLD

£4000

Hi,

I'm putting my BMW K1200R Sport, up for sale even though I've only had it a few months.

There's nothing wrong with it, in fact it's an amazing bike, so very fast and so very capable that it's faaaaar beyond what I need for my commuting. I'm finding myself doing speeds that I don't really want to be doing day in, day out - it'd be different if this was a toy or if I was touring seriously.

It's the facelift version; they sorted out many of the little niggles like the cam chain tensioner and servoed ABS system for this model year. The ABS can still fail, but it appears this bike did that and it was replaced by BMW about a year before I bought it, so that's a bill you shouldn't have to worry about with this one. The ESA works fine (although having the bike moving up or down under you when you change the pre-load is a bit odd!). There's very little corrosion around the front and rear hubs, which I found to be a major problem on many of the bikes I looked at.

I've added an ignition controlled normal-sized power socket, an SW-Motec Givi rack (my topbox is staying with me, but I'll leave the adaptor plate mounted - it's 5 years old now, so does look a little tatty but works and can't be seen under a box! If you don't want Givi, you can buy various other plates for a few quid) and I had BMW fit an OE centre stand when I bought it. I've also added grip-puppies to the handlebars; they're not glued down, so easy enough to pull back off you don't want them. Finally, I found the seat rather slippery, so added a non-slip mat to the rider's area.

The tinted screen and RG crash bungs were fitted when I bought it; the panniers both work with the ignition key and have their proper waterproof roll bags inside. And there's a litre of the proper BMW oil in a natty little case with some paper funnels, too; I haven't touched that as it hasn't used a drop (very easy to check with the centre stand, a pain otherwise...).

On the down side - it will need a new rear tyre sooner rather than later (but not immediately).

Otherwise, this bike is just incredibly capable in every way, faster than 99.9% of anything else on the road and corners like a dream - I've not even started to really push it, just settled in, and it's already quicker on roads I know than anything else I've ridden.

It's got a full BMW service history (should be a picture of the book in the ad). The MOT runs to 15/04/15, the tax until the end of April '15. Milage was at 30822 when I took the pictures, it is used most days so that will be going up a bit.

Please ring your insurers for a quote BEFORE getting in touch to save us all time and trouble; usual rules of private bike buying apply - no test rides without licence, proof of insurance and the full asking price in my hand before you go out - otherwise I'm happy to take you out for a ride as pillion.

The price is based on the part-ex values I've been given - it's much cheaper than anything I could see on Autotrader for the year, but I'd rather see if anyone wants a good price on a good bike without the garage mark-up before I go ahead and chop it in for my next bike.
Don't spend too long thinking about it though - I've got my eyes on a couple of bikes locally so if there's no bites from this then it'll be part-exed soon!
There's no haggling room in this price, BTW - I like an ONO as much as the next guy, but I can get the same part-ex, so it is what it is.

I am in Carmarthenshire, a couple of miles outside of Crosshands, just off the A48.

Cheers,
Jon
