Hi all,

Recently started running. Without music..

Really need some half decent headphones that if possible wont fall out when running.

I know this is a bike forum but you all have the best responses Wub

Anyone got any decent ones?

Looking to spend £1 - £25 Laughing Thumbs Up

Seen some creative EP630's..

I think really I'd prefer the over the head type headphones but not sure if this is a good idea. Have seen a few runners use these, I'm no 'Dr.Dre' faggot though.

I will settle for 'in ear' type,

Cheers Thumbs Up

I use these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-Precision-Isolating-Ear-canal-Phones-Black/dp/B001EZYMF4

I believe most in ear are fine, as long as they fit.

The trick is not letting them get pulled out. I use some chicks hair clip thing she left round mine once. Pinch the wire and your t shirt together leaving some slack around your head, jobs a goodun.

+1 for the CX300s, I use them when I run and they work fine. Sound great too!

Soundmagic E10

MOST importantly if you're running though is get some Comply foam tips for them, T400 I believe it is for the Soundmagics:

Bit over budget but these are good, and this is a good price compared to the £40.00 bargain price I found not so long ago.

Smart remote lets you take hands free calls if music is on your phone.

Saying that, Bandit Boy has a point, they are only being used on MP3/4 devices (usually).

I just started running too and found JVC gummies from Asda, Argos or loads of other places do the job fine for about a £5.

I have difficulty with the fit of 'in ear' types at the best of times but especially when exercising.

Consequently I like something like these;
https://www.tesco.com/direct/sony-mdras200-sports-in-ear-headphones-black/477-2778.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=477-2778&ui=mercury&sc_cmp=pcp_GSF_Hi-fi%20%26%20Speaker%20Docks_477-2778kpid=477-2778&sc_cmp=ppc_g__&gclid=CKyG-KTgmcACFVMRtAodP2EAtg

In your price range and I like the way they fit. Can't vouch for sound quality as can't say I'm pro enough to notice when just using them out running.

(yes, I do run - I wear a regular t shirt, regular shorts, regular trainers, and regular fucking headphones)

You can run in anything, but proper gear tends to make it more pleasant and enjoyable IME.

Yes I run, lots, but I've never used headphones. Never felt the need.

I agree with the the start of this, I disagree with the last sentence because I do not run and if you ever see me running you should run too because there is probably something chasing me. Laughing

On a serious note though, when I used to run (Before this fat bastard ate the thin me) normal in ear phones I got with the mp3 player worked fine.

What a load of horse shit.

I used to run, stopped because I found it incredibly painful on my knees. Went for Gait Analyisis, bought a pair of £130 trainers which actually fitted my feet properly and sorted my foot placement.

Now instead of running 3k and giving up because of the stabbing pains in my knees I can run 10k non stop. Which ain't bad for a 5"10 16 stone bloater.

I also use decent earphones which don't hurt the inside of my ears, stay in when I run or go on the bike and deliver decent sound.

I assume you run barefoot down dirt tracks wearing potato sacks as a t shirt and shorts? Or do you make yourself comfortable? What's wrong with spending a bit more cash to make yourself more comfortable in order to make it enjoyable and more likely to continue exercising?

More likely you're a jealous little pauper.

You're meant to SUFFER, that's the point.

You know that statistically most people going to a gym do not even work up a sweat?

If you aren't sweating, suffering, close to collapse, you ain't jogging hard enough - you're just posing.

The number of lame-o's I see "running" where I go. They've got all the gear. You see them for one, two laps, and then they've gone home. Probably scared of scuffing their £100 "running shoes"

Well, I run because I enjoy it. If you're a sadist and enjoy having knackered knees/ankles etc. then crack on. Hell you could run 200 laps of the local scrapyard barefoot if that's how you get your kicks.

Personally I've found that running in a cotton t-shirt v running in a £20 (or free) technical t-shirt is like night and day. I have a £40 pair of trail shoes that fortunately seem to work for me.

This seems to be turning in "anyone with proper gear must be a poser" thread. Thinking

Personally IMO if you're using headphones you're not concentrating hard enough to your technique. Wink

O, and source?

Just saying the word "statistically" after any random opinion doesn't suddenly turn it into a fact. Razz

People who say any old £3 headphones are fine obviously haven't tried good headphones, or their hearing isn't good enough to hear the difference. I used to think the Samsung ones that came with my phone were awesome, then I bought the SoundMagics and was amazed at just how much better they are. Then I tried my mates Sennheisers at work and now wish I'd spent more!

I've tried them all, and they all fall out. I ended up with jaybirds bluebuds x - the wing part keeps it in the ear. They are awesome, and no lead to your phone/ipod (uses bluetooth).

Alternatively, get some that go over your head - i.e. the traditional stlye.

Or, like I said, get Comply tips to go on the in-ear buds.

might as well go for the e30's. Much better sound quality. They also have these over the ear clip things that keep the buds in your ear.

I use those, with the over ear hooks. They have decent sound quality, are comfortable, and are blootooth so no pesky wires to your phone/mp3 player.

Do you wear specialist bike gear, or do you just wear normal clothes? because a helmet is basically a hat and a pair of biking gloves are the same as a £3 pair of gloves from the supermarket, right? Laughing

That is a fair comparison to any random trainer and a proper, running shoe which has been properly analysed to counteract any bad aspects of your running style (i.e. you have had your gait analysed).

Bandit Boy wrote:

Yeah but you should be suffering from cardiovascular and muscular inefficiencies and not because your trainers have given you plantar fasciitis, shin splints, or are fucking up your knees. Or because your poundland earphones keep falling off and distracting you or break half way round.

Bandit Boy wrote:

You know what, I could believe that. There are many people who go to the gym who are too old/fat or have a disability or condition which prevent them from doing what a fit, healthy 20 year old could do. Doesn't mean they can't have a go and work at their own pace. At least they are not sat on their arse at home watching TV. Afterall, anything that is raising the heart rate through exercise is burning fat or providing cardiovascular benefit, depending on your age and heart rate, obviously.

Vsonic GR06

Chinese make, but are known by audiophiles as a really good pair of earphones for the price

Also come with those little rubber clip things so ideal for running Smile
