I'm totally freaked out... but on my ride home from work today a wasp crawled down the sun visor inside my lid.... I ride with the vents open but the main visor shut and I have no idea how it got in there....

I got stopped at some traffic lights about 4 miles down the road... by which time it had made its way to the bottom edge and I managed to open the visor and brush it out.

What I really wanted to do was rip off my helmet and run around screaming like the girl I am... but my question auntie bfc is..... how the blases did the little critter get in there and has this happened to anyone else????

It was probably already in your lid when you put it on.

Plenty of folk have had bees and wasps stinging them inside their lid.

So far (touch wood) I've only had something (that shall forever remain anonymous) crawl into my left ear on a busy dual carriageway. Was uncomfy for a minute or two, but it crawled out again before I got to work.

A chainsaw's a bit overkill on a wasp, surely? Eh?

Got stung just above the eye by a bumble bee that bumbled into me just at the point I opened my visor as I was pulling onto dealer's forecourt. Managed to pull it out but the sting was still in there.

Dealer went all 'elf and safety - rubber gloves on, sterile tweezers and yoinked it out.. Then the guy behind the desk gave me some Rohypnol antihistamine... Rode home with one eye..

It's super-effective, the two-smoke haze knocks them out in a similar manner to a beekeeper with their smoker.

"I disagree with this post."

Wasps are evil little bastard fuckers... chainsaws are definitely not overkill. Flamethrowers are also not.

A fucking napalm airstrike on the wasp nest and surrounding areas is arguably reasonable.

The last time a wasp stung me I was indoors, and rather than open the window and encourage it out I decided the little bastard was gonna pay... so I got some old newspapers from the recycling box... ushered it onto the papers, and I struck down with great vengeance, furious anger and a frying pan.

And once it was dead I decided to throw the papers and crushed wasp onto next doors bonfire. Just to be sure.

Evil little twats. They're just spiteful little things that come and ruin your bbq/picnic/other-alfresco-dining-occasion and sting you for no good reason. This was my revenge.

You don't know how bad it is untill it happens in the middle of your mod 2.

Don't think it can get any worse. How I kept my cool I still don't know.

Maybe not worse, but I got a wasp stinging my chin and crawling behind my glasses for safety. All I wanted to do was slam on the anchors and eject this free-loader. But was riding a CBR600 on a test ride having passed my test 3 days earlier, so it had a £2,000 excess.
That focused the mind a little Smile

Got the usual as well, stung 5 times down my neck on the way to work. Was riding a GP100. I thought smoke was suppose to chill these bastards out!

Classic!

Mate also got one, and one under his sleeve, both times he had the visor up or no gloves. I was laughing so hard I had to take a 5 to calm down. He was dancing like a stripper that got only a couple of seconds to strip and take the money. Thumbs Up Laughing

I remember riding down a road that had trees all sides, nowhere to pull over, had been scratching my nose, visor up. All of a sudden something humungous splats onto my face. I'd vaguely seen it as it came towards me, could see it was light and dark. First though was wasp, and I was petrified that if I wiped it , it would sting me, so I rode around with a big smeary lump on my cheek until I could stop.
Not a wasp but a monstrous spider. Relief and revulsion in one!
Worst thing was I lost my nose stud in the nose scratching incident Sad

A bird once poohed on face when I was riding with my visor open.

It went in my eye.

I had to go to A&E.

I was riding through the glorious countryside enjoying a nice sunny day with my visor open. There was a junction up ahead so I slowed down so that I could turn left and that's when it pounced. A vindictive butterfly with a chip on its shoulder flew into my face and down towards my chin. I stopped, flapped around a bit and thought I saw it fly out so I continued on my merry way. A few miles down the road and I was giving it the beans having closed up my visor. The butterfly didn't leave. It was hiding and waiting for the ideal opportunity to strike. It was one of those big brown sods too.

True story blud, I swear down on my left trainer.

Sort of on topic. Me and the wife were in Cyprus for a little holiday.
We rented one of those open cockpit mini 2 seater buggy things they have over there
with a little auto moped engine in them. (that holidaymakers rent out in an attempt to kill themselves.)
So, ineveitably after realising they weren't really quick enough on road to keep up with traffic
and having a few new death experiences with some Cypriot HGVs we decided to take it
on the dusty trails near the beach instead for a bit of abuse the hire car fun.
Flat out at 40 odd mph, bouncing around all over the shop driving it off road through a sandy clearing
with the wife hanging on for dear life and I got hit right in the temple by a sparrow sized bird.

Direct hit! Puff of feathers, emergency stop! Damn near scared me half to death and despite it
only weighing about 1/2 an ounce it bloody hurt too.
I saw it coming too in my peripheral vision but just assumed it would divert. Nope. Feathery ba5tard!
