I had 2 nasty stickers on my fairings so I took them off but there is some glue left. What's the best way to remove it?

Hairdryer or WD40

Apply WD40 on some soft cloth and rub it gently or some other way?

Or petrol, or iso propyl alcohol or Tardis or just good old fashioned
elbow grease. None of these will harm paint
Lots of ways really.

This stuff is the bollocks. It is, however, becoming increasingly difficult to obtain due to misuse by substance abusewankers.

Is there much difference in the paint-safeness of acetone (nail varnish remover) vs IPA?

100 octane clear petrol like the one in Zippo lighter liquid is the best way to remove glue and stickers I have used it to remove stickers from book covers and laptops too you just soak the sticker with a rag and in 15 seconds you can remove it. Any left glue use the rag soaked with Zippo again.

I do not smoke from 20 years but always keep one bottle of Zippo fluid at home for cleaning puropses - it cleans to perfection any oil or dirt from parts not only glue.

Lighter fluid (petroleum distillate)

This is sold in cans as fuel for filling petrol lighters e.g. Zippo lighters, but also described as ‘cleaning fluid for the home, garage and studio’. It is usually described on the can as ‘solvent naphtha (petroleum) light aliph’

Uses removes oil or grease-based stains including tar, solvent-based inks and some soft glues (i.e. good for removing residues left from tape or labels)

Safety data highly flammable; harmful if swallowed or inhaled in concentration; can cause skin irritation;

Obtainable most newsagents or supermarkets in 133ml cans e.g. Ronsonol c. £1.70

In the end I used some WD40 and it worked really well. I was a bit concerned about using stronger stuff like white spirit or petrol. I didn't want the paint to fade etc.
