I has just about gone done met the wear indicator on my back wheel.

Tire is a Maxxis sport tire on a CBR600 F3.

Have found the Maxxis pretty good however as its for the commuter I cant be doing with changing the tire every 3k-5k'ish? Sad

Am thinking a duel compound tire as I do like to have some fun on the commute but would like the tire to last longer!

Any suggestions much appreciated.

It's TYRE Razz

Delete as appropriate. Dunlop RoadSmart, Michelin Pilot Road 4, Pirelli Rossos.

3k on a 600, something is wrong with your pressures Shocked
I've got more than that on a set of Racetecs on a litre bike...

MrJoolz got 15k on a ZZR with PR2's, I've heard lots of good stories of the PR3's.

I'd be doing the BT023/PR3 selection.

It may not be exactly 3k, mayybbbeeeeee 5k'ish-6k'ish at most but cant remember when I changed them tbh.
Much of my commute is hard accelerating/slowing jumping round traffic on a single carriageway NSL road with lots of lorries so I think its going pretty quick though...

Will look into the suggestions so far.

Much appreciation.

I recently found PR4's have a scary amount of grip out the box compared to Rosso Corsa's

I suspect I rarely got the Pirelli's hot enough. 5k miles out of those, hoping the PR4's can double that.

PR4's have a harder middle compound in rear tyre compared to PR3's, so in theory should last longer. But can't say yet as I've only done 150 miles on them Smile

Currently wearing Metzelers on my Fazer 600. Z6 on back has done about 13K of commuting in last year and still got couple of mm of tread left. Got similar out of last Z6 on front, but upgraded to Z8 on front in February - no complaints so far, held up well all year round, all weather.

If I recall the Z6's were about £100 a tyre and the Z8 was about £10-20 more.

This is a contentious one. My ZZR6 has Avon Ultra Storm II on them. Some combination of those words anyway.

Done maybe 4-5k on them and they've impressed me. So much more confidence inspiring than the crappy Maxxis that were on it before!

I usually get 4-5k a rear from Pirelli Diablos. I'm not exactly a gentle rider.
