There's a petition to ban it. Might as well sign it, it might even do some good.

What I find weird is they put it on a road with very deep car tracks and other pot holes and it does nothing to fix it. May as well just have left it as it was if theyre not gonna relay the whole thing!

I love that sound of those loose chippings scratching my paintwork as I drive along.

It's everywhere at the moment and it's fucking awful. They're using it on roads I didn't even consider to be bad Neutral

Some roads are shit because they are bumpy, now they're bumpy AND have a shit surface.

You've got to be kidding me. I've been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. It's just common sense.

How many more times is this going to be brought up this year....

FFS these petitions are a waste of time. Nothing ever changes....

I love the surface dressing.
Get some idiot behind you in a car too close. JUST WIND IT ON and shower them in chippings Laughing

What is more dangerous is the fact they have been putting up the signs about 2 weeks before doing the work.... So every one is just ignoring them. Then take another 2 weeks to get the white lines back down Twisted Evil
Still that does have a up side.... What double white lines are you talking about officer Laughing

Because they're deliberately designed as a safety valve for lazy whingers who also have a very tenuous grasp on arithmetic, logic, the process of government, and indeed reality.

They're not all bad, granted.

I think if you want to make an e-petition effective, it has to be only a part of a more general campaign. The powers-that-be probably also see it as a measure of how strongly an issue is felt to be. Only an e-petition? Oh well, not that important to folks then. Backed by a very visual, high profile campaign in the media, with events, massed protest meetings, lobbying etc? Ah, Joe Public really wants something to be done, maybe we should get off our asses and deal with it.

I don't read the car press and associated writings, but how does the general car-driving public feel? I don't like stone-chips in my paintwork, but tbh, the car doesn't seem to be that badly affected, so it's not an issue for me from that point of view.

This is the problem with minority groups like ours (motorcyclists). We'll never have enough clout, especially as (generalisation) we're not that popular with your average Joe anyway.

+1.

You need to also have a Mumsnet / Daily Rant sized campaign bashing politicians' ears on a daily basis.

But if you have that, you don't need an "ePetition".

chickenstrip wrote:

+2. And having "done something" by chucking another irrelevant name on an irrelevant site, how many folk bother doing anything else? I mean, other than turning on sensible chaps who point this out, as though we are the problem. Wink

ePetitions are astonishingly effective at their goal of burying disaffection in a sound proofed oubliette.

On topic, this is a local issue. It needs local lobbying, or local compo claims from people who have actually binned it.

That's the reason given for closing it.

Is it?

Perhaps we should start a petition to get them to list the petitions a petition is a duplicate of. I mean, they'd have to have looked to find one, wouldn't they?

I like em!

But then I am on a dirt bike. It's like being off-road without having to go anywhere, slipping all over the place, bouncing up and down pot-holes, spraying people in gravel.

No wonder people hate me. Laughing
