Failed my theory test by 1 mark, then again by 4

Hey all. Failed my theory first time around with no practice or preparation at all by 1 mark. Thought ok time to do some reading! So I bought the "official DVSA theory test for motorcycles" Which is 500 pages of pure joy. Anyway I was wondering if anyone had some resources that you could link me to so that I can practice? You don't get told what questions you fail on so you don't even know what to revise really... So I looked for practice tests that told you what questions you got wrong but can't find any.

Might I suggest you turn off the internet/x-box/playstation, and get your book out and start reading. Find a neighbour / friend to randomly test you from the book. Make sure you know it inside out. Write some notes and revise properly.

If you failed a Theory test twice I'd suggest just reading the book again. Also there's a Dvd/Cd rom thing which you can do practise tests including the hazard perception.

Don't bother rebooking your theory test until you constantly getting 49 or 50 out of 50.

You cant teach common sense....so you will just have to learn it.

The theory is almost unfailable so its good going to do it twice.

All I can suggest is reading up on the highway code.

For both my car and bike theory tests some of the same questions came up (as in those practice tests).

The GetOn website also used to have some practice tests, but the sites changed and I can't find them now.

From the actual highway code, as long as you have a decent knowledge of road signs, the only thing you really have to memorise is stopping distances and hand signals.

Easy way to remember stopping distance is this

20 Mph X 2 = 40 Feet

30 Mph X 2.5 = 75 Feet

40 Mph X 3 = 120 Feet

50 Mph X 3.5 = 175 Feet

60 Mph X 4 = 240 Feet

70 Mph X 4.5 = 315 Feet

Attempt 1 - Got lost & missed my test

Attempt 2 - Found test centre, derped hazard perception

Attempt 3 - Scraped through hazard perception by two marks.

Just keep revising it.

If you have a smart phone, which most of us do. Buy the app. Practice the questions in all the sections do some mock tests and get it done. For HP there are enough free videos on the internet to practice that.

Bought the book, tried reading it, got bored.
Tried again, bored.
£12 wasted.

Bought app on phone. £3. Loads of practice tests. Easy to do during lunch, waiting for stuff to boil, on train, bus etc
2 days do do all questions.

I know a book can be read in 99% of situations a phone can, but the phone gives you instant answers, meaning you can crack through the questions at 3x the speed.

Several practice tests, 50/50.

If you don't find the book a winner, try a phone app.

Damn guys I was asking for some resources not to insult me because you get off on it or something lol. I will get that app, I didn't know one existed to be honest. The reason I did it with no practice or prep was simply because I'm working 7 days a week and was not motivated - I thought I would give it a shot and go and improve on that. I did read the book but all it seemed to do was set me back. Anyway I think that app will do the trick, thanks

Matt Both times I did perfectly fine on hazard perception. I have been on the road for nearly 2 years so I'm sure that is why

DSA DVD might be a good bet then - find out whats catching you out and focus on those questions.

DSA book.. read questions + correct answers only (reading incorrect ones will only confuse you). Do it once or twice. For the Hazard Perception the DVD is usually good.. try a few times until you figure out when and how to click. I double clicked during my test just to be sure. It worked. Off you go.

I did all the above and got 50/50 and 64/75.
