I've been in, just typical over priced bike shop really, doesn't seem very popular but maybe it kicks off over the weekend, never really looked then.

Fun fact. Our bikes share the 1st 4 digits of the plate.

Thursday actually. The weather has been a bit out of sorts for this time of year but I thought I had found a window to take one of our guests up The Großglockner.

https://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd406/PensionHausMaria/GGNick2_zpsaaa4c135.jpg

Not much of a window. This was taken just below Bikers Point.

Slightly better on the south side although the Großglockner itself is hidden in the cloud.

Took the MSX to the Lake district today.

260 miles, and one very sore arse later, I have some pictures.

The view towards the lake district (top left) from the top of the Heartside pass. Normally its heaving, but forecast rain meant there were only 5 or 6 bikes

Into the lake district, by the shore of Lake Ullswater

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/geoffhill/AC46D684-346C-40DC-A5C4-616A7EF574A2_zpskubtwyiz.jpg

The kirkstone pass is between Ullswater and Windermere, this is the view down towards Windermere

and again a little further down

looking down the other side of the pass, towards the Hardknot pass in the distance

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/geoffhill/F8F5D6FF-EAFA-44C7-8CAA-322F7B916DA3_zpsvm49l5cd.jpg

and a little further along, at the bottom of the Hardknot pass

Fuuuuuu. That looks steep

The camera is definitely level here

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/geoffhill/288F04EB-636A-45F2-8CF0-9ABE0BD70AC4_zps1pwcn2cm.jpg

From near the top of Hardknott, looking towards the Irish sea in the distance. The BMW half way up wasn't impressed by the hill.

The light went a bit sucky after then, so not many pictures on the way back

Some very good roads there, Hartknott pass is a right laugh on a supermoto. I was having a rest once near the end and a brand new Audi came screeching down the hill, the driver got out and started pouring water on the brake discs Laughing Very smart Mr. Audi man Thumbs Up

Went to The Osborne View Pub in Titchfield, on the coast outside Fareham.
The pub sits right on the beach. It's large and open inside with multi-levels so you get some privacy, a large garden area with plenty of tables and a dedicated outside bar + Marquee. Huge amount of parking too. Definitely adding this to the bike haunts list.
Was hoping to bumble around the nature reserve as well as the beach, but traffic was intolerable, gridlock for miles around Cranleigh, Petworth and Midhurst. So I arrived late in the day.

It's bank holiday weekend, I should know better. Came back in a foul mood. Overtook north of 300 cars, maybe double that figure.
Columns of traffic all bumper to bumper, apparently happy to revel in going nowhere slowly, breathing in other users fumes and baking in the midday sun.

Shalford -> Rudgwick -> Loxwood
Except the Police were closing off the road as I arrived, there was a lot of muck on the road, guessing a bike came off on it or hit the machine that lay the fresh crap everywhere. I'm just guessing though.
Came round a blind bend to find some douche doing a u-turn on the bend, rather than travelling 150 mtrs up the road to where the Police actually were. Thankfully I was (for once) going very slow due to crap on the road and frantic flashing of other motorists.
Detour.

-> Wisborough Green -> Petworth -> Midhurst -> West Dean -> B2141 and B2146 to Petersfield -> Loomies -> A32 -> Titchfield
Then back A32 to Alton -> B3006 to Selborne -> Rake

Condom clad cockends had panted their way up a hill and decided the best thing to do was stop for refreshments at the top and a blind bend.
4x4 stuck behind decided to not ask the Lycra legends to move over, and even though the cyclists were stationary, she decided to not overtake close to them, but instead went 3/4 of the way onto the wrong side of the road on this bend, then did not honk her horn to warn other road users (me) that there might be an obstruction round the bend.
I wasn't going full chat, but I wasn't exactly riding to the speed of being able to stop in the distance I could see. Rounded the bend, met 4x4, picked the bike up and missed her mirror. Can't have been that close, had enough time to blast horn and mention some rude words. Maybe next time she will use her horn and maybe the Chris Hoy clones will think twice before blocking the road for traffic behind them on a blind bend. Doubt it.

-> Rake road and Fernhurst road to Fernhurst -> A286 to Haslemere

190 miles with a few moments that were enjoyable, but mostly it was a waste of time, petrol and bike.

https://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/w559/pigeon35/Random/20140823_144757resized_zps5a7fb038.jpg

That's me done. Never going out on bank holiday weekends again.

It never looks as steep in photos as it feels when you're riding it!

My ride yesterday was crap for a different reason. Traffic wasn't too bad, but I could see some nasty-looking showers dotted around in all directions, so I decided to play a game of shower-dodging. FAIL! Laughing There just wasn't enough space between the showers to be sure I could stay dry, but I gave it a shot. Unfortunately, the showers seemed to be sitting over all the best roads, so I ended up riding loads of boring dual carriageway - even a short stretch on the M4 at one point.

I didn't do too badly, but got a bit wet making a last dash for home.

Never going shower-dodging again.

Today was a day of classic Japs.
At H's café today, a trio of triples.
H2B, standard, pristine:

H2C, with KR1 forks, wheels, brakes and s/arm:

Immaculate KH250:

And also, this beautifully restored Z900:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCF5447_zps2569b327.jpg

Then a blat out around Salisbury plain etc, called in for a cuppa at Mega M/C Store, Swindon, and for one mad moment, was sorely tempted by this lovely condition GS1000E:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCF5451_zpsc37e1444.jpg

£2995 the asking price.

They also had very clean CBX1000, CB750 and GS750, but it was the bigger Suzuki that I had a weak moment over - safe now Laughing

Went pillion on hubby's Cbf1000 yesterday to Great Yarmouth area.
Loads of bikes out & about as do not usually see many.
Great ride out, not too hot & we were both buzzing afterwards.
Some nice fast bits & some steady take in the views bits.
Has taken me a while to get used to filtering! Fortunately he is a great rider which is why I don't get scared Smile

Went out to Hartside, not too busy at all today, went back via Allenheads, across some mad single track roads as is protocol, then Stanhope moors, Derwent Reservoir etc. about 120 miles total I think, never seem to go too far when I'm out solo.

Durham's finest were out in force on Saturday in 3 differing places on the run up to Hartside apparently which has put quite a few off heading up there the last few days.

Man I've been loads of places on my new Divvy, should really have taken more pictures. Or indeed any pictures, too busy learning to ride the thing with and without a pillion... the only snap I have from this weekend is of the idiot panel of my now traded YBR-125, final odo reading 8133. Quite a few miles in just six months.

I've managed to rack up about 350 miles, as a lot of that was at high speed and/or with a pillion that's quite a bit on fuel, I estimate around £40. Winchester, Haslemere, tried Alton for Loomies (closed today by the time we got there soaked as hell), Southampton, Burley (this was after getting the Divvy up to 127mph, I think there's more but I started to bottle it around then even in a straight line, that was yesterday when the weather was good) and several other places in between.

Mix of motorways, A roads, B roads and horrible dangerous C roads (country stretches paved with terrible tarmac and a smattering of horse shit, thin as you like and then thinner still, slow control eat your heart out). Good experience. Still getting used to the weight of someone on the back - few hairy moments with low speed wobble when pulling a u-turn after a left turn to get in the other lane and so forth. Lucky the Divvy is so well-balanced really, if I'd tried this on the Thunderace it would have tipped I swear.

Had a near SMIDSY hit, some idiot in a white Fiesta pulled out on a New Forest A road - looked left, not right, I got the bike down from 80mph. Solo riding - don't go over NSL with a pillion. Saw me eventually and still pulled out, I didn't panic at all, just swift down through a few gears and engine braked (didn't slam the anchors on) and moved swiftly to the right, straddling the dual carriageway lane line, got over to the right lane in front of a BMW who had seen what was happening and lost about 20mph so I didn't clip. A fellow biker riding with a pillion pulled up when I got back in the left after overtaking white Fiesta idiot, nodded to me, I nodded back a few times to confirm I was alright. Zero damage to the bike, VERY lucky. Not panicking was the key - if I'd done anything else like tried the horn I wouldn't have had time to react properly.

So yeah, interesting weekend. Soggy riding conditions today not fun, my Shark lid which almost never steams up did a bit today and I kept having to wipe the fucker at high speeds. Lots to tell, not enough pictures.

Those are the 2 spots I know of, they looooove NSL -> 30mph spots. The Hartside pass one is a lost cause since every single person coming the other way warns you, and usually people will tell you at the petrol station beforehand too. One newish one I've seen is about 3/4 along the pass almost in Penrith there was an old shabby van there near the crossroads, which by the way lead to some great little back roads.

Or stop. Wander about. Take a picture. Then get on your bike. The number of pictures I take is inversely proportional to how comfortable the seat is.
