They are already having 'proms' at the school round the corner to me. I've seen Lambos, a tank,
a helicopter, countless limos etc etc dropping children off for their school disco (as it was

At 10 I had a morning paper round, then I got an evening one too. Then a saturday morning job
on a fruit and veg stand and every other week I went out with our milkman collecting the milk money
from his round. At 15 I was working for a fast food chain, and ever since I've always worked.
I wasn't too proud to do any kind of legitimate work if it paid me a few quid, and at 17 I had saved up £400
which was enough for me to buy myself my first 125. I was so proud of that old thing.
24years later I can still remember the reg number 
Can you imagine todays kids bursting with pride over a tatty old bike?
A lot of them have phones (with bills paid for them by mum and dad) that cost more than my old bike did.
And after a year they want the next 500quid must have gadget in their christmas stocking.

I worked illegally when I was at school, some bullshit rules about not starting paper rounds too early, or working too many hours.
I opened the paper shop up before 6am, marked all the rounds up and did my own, went back in the evening did another one, had some free junk paper rounds, and worked 12 to 24 hours every weekend in a shop too. Probably earned more than the teachers |
