I got a new bike 4 days ago, it got slightly wet on delivery as it was raining, then 10 minutes yesterday when I got caught in it.

Now I'm not one to pick things out usually, but my bike has rust on the brake side foot peg and on the foot plate. It's only surfact rust which I'm sure will come off, but the bike being 4 days old I'm wondering.

It's a Pulse Adrenaline 125 (I love everything else about the bike, 270km in, don't get me wrong). I got it brand new, with 3 years parts and labour warranty. I haven't spoken to the dealer yet as I only noticed it this morning. Will this sort of thing be covered over warranty, ie, will they replace the rusty parts? The bike is kept in the garage at night.

It may be Chinese, but that's no excuse. Retailer selling a product that is fit for purpose. One that rusts in UK after 4 days is not in any way fit for purpose.

Back to the dealer surely!

I realise that it's a bit late now but in future you need to remember that you will have fewer problems if you purchase bikes that are manufactured in either Germany, Japan, Austria or South Korea.

Pics for our benefit. There's rust and there's rust.

Polish off with fine wire wool, coat in ACF-50, do your research next time. Should have spunked another £200 on a Sinnis Apache. Or the same amount on a used Japanese branded bike in good condition.

To be honest the dealer will just clean it off and tell you everything is fine & dandy, I know it isn't what you want to hear, but you're just going to have to accept what you have bought and start to protect it yourself,
Take the peg off, rub it down and give it a few coats of enamel paint
give the bike a good dowsing in AC50 or F365

A rusty bike is still fit for purpose - unless it's the forks or chain that's rusty etc. More of a 'merchantable quality' issue IMO.

I suppose it's some kind of result, but, and there was inevitably going to be a "but", your dealer is admitting that there is always going to be a problem!
Looks like you'll have to sort it yourself, as has been suggested earlier in the thread.

Oh, to have rust and loose paint in the front brake master cylinder, is that better Laughing

Be careful of new parts from chinese bike dealers, they are often just swapped from another bike.

Hi guys,

The dealer is Shropshire Motorcycles, the guy I speak to is called Tom.
https://www.shropshiremotorcycles.co.uk/

Got a good deal from what I've seen online, Bike, brand new incl registration tax etc, few litres of fuel, jacket, trousers, helmet (which they changed to suit the bike), gloves, delivery to my work on the selected day I chose, £1549.

Always reply straight away to emails and more than happy to help with anything I've asked. Perfect for my first brand new bike.

Cheers, chap, Thumbs Up all round.

Haters will hate, but you could do worse than a Pulse / Lexmoto, and that's a good resolution.

I do hope Honda are taking note. Wink

To be honest I did read and read about Chinese bikes, but I guess until I had one I'd never quite know what to believe. I had a XR 125 prior to this, 9 years old. 05 plate, done the job but I wanted that 'supermoto' style rather than trail. I love the Pulse, even if the bars are relatively low (i'm 6ft 2) so getting the MX style bars fitted and one of Lexmoto's exhaust, the standard is very quiet. The dealer is happy to fit all this for me, I'd rather have them do it and keep my warranty. Really do reccomend Shropshire Motorcycles!

It's almost sad that an expected level of customer service has actually been attained and everyone is jumping for joy about it.

That being said, Shropshire Motorcycles do deserve praise for sorting it and quickly**
Thumbs Up Very Happy

Top job guys, you've outshone Honda ***

Bike & kit for 40-60% less than Japanese and European 125's. You've done well. £2,700 for a CBF125 that doesn't look anything special, have particularly great build or come with any extras.

Good value, funky and fun transport. Surely the essence of motorbikes. There was a large fall in people getting into bikes for various reasons. But surely deals like this will help to reverse that trend.

If a few more survive to make it past their first MOT, that should increase trust in the product and might help the depreciation issue.

The parts should be covered by Pulse/Lexmoto. ACF-50 costs £30 a litre bought in bulk. If I were selling any contemporary 125, I'd have a drum to hand. You could coat a bike comprehensively for under £10.

Workshop time, yes, but that's the price of doing business.
