It's very hard not to sound melodramatic, and I'm really aware of this. As you all ride motorbikes daily, you know how it is. Things happen every single ride, someone pulls out, something happens and so on. It's nothing at all special. The same goes in my case.

What just happened was unbelievable. I'll keep it short. A women pulled into her drive on a national speed limit road, without bothering to look for oncoming traffic, in this case me. I'm still trying to compute the stupidity of this lady, but to be honest I'll probably fail.

I've never been so close to crashing at a genuine 60mph into a solid piece of car. I was able to put on the anchors, but it wouldn't have made any difference. The only saving grace is how quickly she pulled into her drive, if she had been any slower it would have been a crash. This was a typical smidsy.

Anyway. No video, but wish I filmed it. Paint diagram possibly coming later. No tits, no gary. Not even a cool story bro. Just had to vent it out.

Probably a good job she didn't see you AFTER initiating the turn.

They tend to just stop the car and stare in terror when they realise they've fucked up. Moving out of the FUCKING WAY comes as an after thought.

I've had similar where I've seen them turn the wheels then stop at the last minute.

I know how you feel. Someone started pulling out of a side road in front of me (whilst I was on a BikeSafe ride, being followed by a police rider). I was hard on the brakes (in lashing rain) and had actually started weighing up the pros and cons of where best to hit the car (I remember thinking I should avoid any hard points, like the B pillar or suspension mounts). They saw me at the last moment and panic stopped; I gratefully dodged around the front of them.

You may wish to update this thread, then. I would suggest this as a possible entry.

At least give us a Street View so that we can all tell you how we'd totally have used our mental telepathy and precognition to have anticipated it.

Inb4 "Bad obs!!"

Seriously though; don't moments like that really get the old adrenaline going. It's so true that you only really feel alive when there's a good chance you're just about to wind up dead.

Kudos on not falling off just at the thought of crashing. Others have. Thumbs Up

Had one this morning, Pins, funnily enough. Coming round a blind bend, narrow lane, mechanical shovel thingy vehicle coming the opposite way, turned straight across me into a farm drive, no indication, no nowt. As I was on the crm I was going quite slowly (40-45 in a 60 limit) - trying to save petrol, taking it easy on knobblies, mindful of the bend, and half sensing something too.

Half a second difference and who knows. Bizarrely though it didn't phase me at all. Another day it might well have. Some days though I'm just stupidly fatalistic and think if you're number's up, etc. etc.

I suppose I could've been positioned a bit further over to the left for an earlier view, and been riding even slower. Confused

I saw you at the last second, recognised your helmet as you were next to me. Was planning what needed to be done as I only had an hour in the city so was in my own world Laughing .

Happened on the way home, rather typically 20 seconds after the incident, a Golf driver came round a blind corner on my side of the road. Just waiting for the third thing to happen tomorrow morning.

Had a very close call this morning! Came round a 50 limit sweeping bend to find a Mercedes C class facing me on my side of the road all smashed up. Felt the back end squirm as I braked and changed down the gears, just about stopped with a foot to spare. There was no police on the scene, nothing but a man clearing the debris, who saw it all and smiled at me letting me know how lucky I was.

There was no way I could of prepared for that or assumed that. There was no evidence beforehand of a accident. Got my heart racing
