ybr power problem

Hello there i have a 2010 ybr 125 bike runs perfect no problems but lately when i go to start her i turn key and get no responce or power i need to turn key off then back on a few times to get dash to get power then she starts strait away . At first it was maybe once every 2 months now its got to the stage every time i start it and a few times a day. Could i have a loose wire . Thanks

Most likely the ignition but could be a wire.

Try it with the handlebars turned to the right and left.
This might mean it is a part broken wire but still it could be the ignition.

Of course, the ignition switch is just an electrical contact and if exercising it helps then there is clearly a poor connection somewhere in or near the switch. I would take it apart, clean the contacts and check the various connections. If that's a little over your head then ask someone more experienced to look at it.

When's the last time you sprayed anythng do the key hole? Perhaps WD40 or whatever?

Have you taken a modern motorbike ignition apart.?

They are made not to be taken apart.

Ok thanks i spray some wd40 in later and chase the ignition wire back and disconect clean and reconect . Im not familer with this bike as main bike is a zx6r wot i work on . do i need to take the tank off to acces the wires .

Perhaps not too modern Paddy but it would be the first item that would beat me. There's always a first eh Smile

Not familiar with the specific model, but many motorcycle and scooter ignition switches are designed to be waterproof, so contact cleaner spray may not help.

If you can identify the wiring, you should be able to bypass the switch to eliminate it, but if its not the switch, you could have a broken wire or duff connection.

Some ignition switches can be separated from the key mechanism and replaced.
