After looking at EDF's and wondering about their use on hang gliders, I was thinking about this sort of thing too - well, hoverboard, on the basis we've only got a year left.

Of course, EDF is best avoided, as they're not very efficient - going with traditional props, you can get around 20kg of thrust from a 1.6kg electric motor (going to need batteries and controller as well as the air frame.)

Maybe 6-8 of those - and that's not with THAT massive props.
Of course, run times are going to be short due to the nature of electric stuff - it's massively harder to do this kind of 'copter' with an ICE because you don't get the fine control over the engines/rotors you do with electric.
