I re-painted the oil tank on my Suzuki B100p and was wondering what type of oil to put in it. It is a 2 Stroke and was wondering if Senthetic is ok to use. It also uses a Posi Force Injection system and was wondering how can check to make system is working proper. I just did my permit/Balance test on the bike and want to make sure it working proper. I was told I didn't need the turn lights due to the age, however I put a set on from Ebay which actually look pretty good.

hi,
yup, pre 1986 bikes dont need inicators.
there is a way to test the oil oil pump which involves running the bike with the 2t feed disconnected (with a bit of 2t oil in duel tank) & seeing how much 2t comes out at WOT.
its in the wsm, personally wouldnt bother. pumps either working or not.+ youl soon know if it isnt Wink
cheers

Normal advice is to 'use what it was designed for'. So norma old schooll (green) 2T from Wilkos or what have you. Use it in my Suzuki A100.

hi,
i always use fully synthetic on my later sports 2 strokes, cos thats what the manual stipulates.
the 80's gammas, i use semi or fully synthetic as that what the manual states.......
seeing a pattern here?
however, i wouldnt put that mineral crap sold by supermarkets, anywhere near any bike, best left for lawn-mowers imo.
at the very least i would use semi-synthetic in ANY 2t.
i know your manual MIGHT specify mineral 2t, but oil has improved a bit since then, so i'd always go for at least semi.
im all for saving a couple of quid here + there, but 2 stroke oil is not not either of these situations.
pay the extra 2 quid a litre. your bike will thank-you for it, by way of less carbon/sh*te building up on exhaust/plug etc,

cheers,
GAZ

There ought to be a procedure for priming and testing the posiforce system in your workshop manual. As has been said already, this would normally involve running the engine on a small amount of pre-mix with the oil line(s) disconnected until oil is seen to run through. There is then usually a drip count to determine if sufficient oil is being delivered.

If you do not have a workshop manual, I'd strongly suggest getting one.

If it's anything like my old Suzuki T500 which had a direct oil injection system, there are some small non-return valves in the banjo unions which can become stuck after a period of disuse.

A quick and dirty test is to make sure you have a haze of blue smoke from the exhaust after startup. If you're seeing that, there is at least some oil getting through.

Arrghh! A Bloop. Rode one once & as I was going through the local council estate I took an unexpected football to the chest that knocked me off the back of the bike Smile
