Wheel powder coating in Berkshire

Hi all

Could anyone recommend a good powder coater for motorcycle wheels (alloy cast) in Berkshire or the surrounding areas?

Do you need it to be blasted as well? If so, in Reading take it to RD Cox blasting, then there is Unimet in Reading to do the powder coating. They aren't great, you'll need to mask all the bits you need to mask, they won't do it for you.

Personally I'd not limit myself to Berkshire as there are loads of places in Oxfordshire and Hampshire which are pretty good, and they aren't that far away. Berkshire is long and thin so its silly to confine yourself to it.

Well no problem going to Oxfordshire or Hampshire etc I just didn't want to do silly miles in the car..

Well there is some slight corrosion on there and the previous factory applied coating is on there with some chipping off slightly.

Take them to RD Cox and Son to have them blasted first. Unimet do a shit job of that to be honest.

Although there honestly might be somewhere better for powder coating. There is a place near me in Aldershot which looks quite good but I've not heard any recommendations or anything. I've used Unimet but I wasn't amazingly impressed. They did a good job on my 350lc wheels but I wasn't totally blown away.

What did Unimet do wrong with the blasting if you don't mind me asking?

I haven't had anything powder coated or blasted before so I am kind of new to this, I take it you mean sand blasting to clean off any old paint and prepare the surface? I presume that you can't do this yourself with sand paper and a lot of time then? Smile

I'm not looking for a flawless finish at all just one which will last a while without falling off or corroding and maybe a colour would be nice.
