What are they like in high winds?

Stinkwheel recommended the Quechua, don't know if he has tested it in the really blowy stuff.

Any other suggestions or tips for Pop-Up's ?

I'm assuming that being waterproof will be assured (for a price).

Getting into the wetter weather I now need something to pack away very quickly.

Are there any 'high specification' pop-ups on the market, I'm thinking 2 man size.

I highly recommend one of these.
Its a 'pull up, lock and tie' jobby, much faster to set up than a traditional pop up.
Used mine a few months back in some truly torrential conditions with no leaks.
Not tested it out in very windy conditions but for ease of use for a n00b camper like me, it was just the job.
It took an inflatable double mattress with enough room to spare for all the rest of my gear.

Yes tested the quechua while really blowy AND while really rainy and in a combination of the two.

Still waterproof after 3 years. Inner tent is fully insect proof too.

The 2 man one is genuinely 2 man. It will fit two adults plus a fair bit of gear and the newer models have addressed the issue of rain entering the inner tent when the door is opened. The disc is a tad on the large side for packing on a bike.

By blowy I mean camping on a clifftop campsite on North West Skye when a hoolie came in overnight. I'd estimate force 7 or 8. Guy ropes fully deployed and double-pegged mind! By rain, I mean utterly torrential as only the West coast of Scotland can deliver.

I'm very happy with mine and would recommend it for any short camping trip. The lack of a decent sized porch would be a miss on longer trips.

It annoys the fuck out of my mates when I'm, finished my first beer by the time they have their tent up. Pops up in 2 seconds. Another minute to put the pegs out. If you watch the video first, you'll have it back in the bag in under 2 minutes.

Thanks stinkwheel,

Your word is good for me, just what I needed to know, if it stands a Hoolie then that is enough by any count.

Point taken about full deployment of guy ropes, did the side walls crush in much with guy ropes deployed ?

Very little. More than a well designed tunnel/geodesic but less than a dome. but it's so waterproof that the only moisture on the inside is condensation. Touching the sides isn't really an issue.

I'm having one, not a difficult decision when the most expensive one is £46 quid, looking forward to trying it out.

Just need to figure out best way to lash it to the bike, ho-hum, trivial problem Rolling Eyes

I really liked the 'flash mach 2' (and 3) black out tents. They no longer sell them, but have had them in pretty stout winds, no more than two pegs and my kit and done fine.

Laid across panniers on KTM makes it easy to carry (apart from when a strap broke etc, with the result that I look in my mirrors as something seems slightly off and note my tent is setup on the road a way back!)
