 |
|
Hi
Rebuilding the GF's CG 125 and I've just reassembled the new bottom end.
Issue I'm worried about is the kickstart gear appears to be still moving as I turn the motor over by hand, is the kickstart gear supposed to turn over with the engine? Note the kickstart itself is not engaged just the drive gear.
I refitted the shims on the kickstart shaft as they came out originally, wondering if they were incorrect, little shim was on the far left of the shaft closest to the gear shift side of the motor and the larger shim on the far right nearest the rear brake side (Haynes isn't particularly clear either).
Thanks

Your CG is ancient, looking at your signature, awesome.
Restoring it?

Nice chrome mudguards, stylin
Café racer style, classic
A dose of ACF50 and a bit of TLC and it'll be AOK
The work horse itself
I've got most of a CG in my front room as well as the one I ride to work ____________________ Fzr-600 1999 |

Wow, CGs really had tiny front drums back then, my brakes are terrible, how does that thing even stop? ____________________ The above post is most likely nonsensical.

Simple, by pulling the lever.
As I see it, roads were clearer, cars didn't slam on the brakes at junctions, and attitudes were calmer.
Also, it made ordering drum shoes easy, as I believe they are the same size front and rear. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

@Alpha I actually quite like the look of it, sort of reminds me of a flat track bike rather than the bog standard commuter style that developed in the 80's, gonna be a keeper I think , still regret selling my RXS 100!
@faster Indeed, so long as the rider allows the kick-start to return to the rest position & ensures it disconnects, have read a few tales of them binding slightly and if left long enough welding themselves together permanently connecting the drive train to the kick-start
& why on earth would I want to kill her off besides been able to redirect house & wedding funds to a Street Triple seriously though for the cost of a new front end with disc brakes, just going to sort the drums out as best as I can, managed to get my old RXS brakes to be acceptable with new shoes & cable so I would trust them provided she rides accordingly. ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 & 91 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Some Bike Pics...
