Cheers in advance

Drift Ghost - you can record over 2 hours on one battery
GoPro - video quality

I'm currently after a Drift Ghost. Done much research, testing with friend's Go Pro, comparing to my own Contour Roam 2 and of course seeking the opinion of the BCF massive, I decided to go with the Drift Ghost.

Many reasons, but first and foremost is that is doesn't look odd on your helmet!

Look at any of the youtube videos on the subject and make your own call.

I have a GoPro as I find it more useful for more things than just the bike, but whatever works for you.

Drift are good on helmets - though not the smallest the front profile is small.
GoPro bit better quality, a smaller lighter unit but a big sticky-out brick when in a case - as it isn't waterproof otherwise.
GoPro is possibly easier to use in other situations.

I'd get a Drift and if you have "other situations" get a GoPro copy SJ4000 later.
There's a wifi version of that out now too, still very cheap.
Also if you already have n SJ4000 have a hunt round for firmware updates. The last one greatly improved the stills from it.

I use this Thumbs Up
I have it plugged into 12v for continuous recording, as it's own battery lasts just over an hour.
Great video, very small (tic tac box size) fantastic value.

Yeah I do a lot of paintballing so I'd be using it for that aswell, my mate who's got a bike and who I go paintballing with has a go pro 3 silver and the footage is great, it's just that on the bike IMO the go pro looks daft as it's like a brick:/

The GoPro is absolutely fantastic quality, when I attach it to my bike you can even pick out the stones on the road.

The downside is battery life - I get about 40-45 minutes out of a full charge. I have two batteries but that's just faffing about as you would have to take it out of the case.

I get roughly 3 hours out of my Drift Ghost! 45 minutes is ridiculous.

I bought a liquid image ego a couple of years ago. I liked it so much I rang them and asked for more for free in exchange for stickers on my car.

You can pick them up for less than £100 and the quality is comparable (though admittedly not as high as the most recent gopros). The cameras themselves look a lot better.

Here's my most recent vid as an example of the quality - https://youtu.be/WOxXDxFWcoU (make sure you switch to HD).

And just to clarify - I got the freebies and stickers because I liked them, not the other way round... Corporate shilling for €300 is not my bag.

+1 for the Ego.. my friend uses it on his quadcopter and the quality you get for the money is decent.

For me, a helmet cam needs to be convenient and hassle free, and the Drift with the remote control and wifi to enable view finding on the phone is pretty handy.

The GoPro app is pretty good.

We put the GoPro on my mate's car bonnet when we went for a ride/drive and we could get the optimal viewing angle by using the app to see the view from the camera.

My mate decided to watch the entire journey through his phone (he wasn't the one driving).

Pretty cool though!
