...I've now got white paint flung all over the underside of the bike and swingarm. Riding in the dark I didn't see the puddle of white paint in the road until it was too late. Evil or Very Mad

Any ideas on how best to remove it?

Could of been worse, could of been pink paint.

T Cut, rubbing compound or white spirit and a bit of elbow grease will shift it.

Ballix I've used T-Cut on fairings and it's never damaged them. On a similar note I debadged a car and white spirit seemed to fade it more than T-Cut.

and when trying to remove the stevey wonder fairing paint job that had got on to the frame of my ZZR600 it took the paint off all the way to the bare alumimum

Strange I've used T-Cut on fairings before and it's worked dead on.

Not sure what type of paint it is.

I've only tried white spirit so far with little or no effect.

I'd get down to B&Q and have a look at their paint strippers - you can get less aggressive non-solvent ones for use on delicate surfaces like marble. Usually have to let them sit longer than the blitz everything type, but they should do less damage to the plastics.

Worth a bit of spot testing with a cotton bud too, I reckon.

I used chain de greaser (can't remember the exact name of it) to clean road tar from the underside of my bike and the wheel rims.

Tried a little bit on the fairing and it didn't mark it at all and everything came off, without much elbow grease too!

Try nail polish remover Thumbs Up

Works a treat removing all kinds of paint believe it or not. It was one of the strongest stripping agents we used at work... just make sure you wax the paint work afterwards.

*edit... oops! Sorry, my head's not where it should be today.

White spirit does the job for me, a bottle of that stuff (500ml) is only like 2 quid or something from B&Q) ! It removes every sort of adhered dirt and chain spray fling. Use a natural cloth if you're working on plastic so as not to scratch it. Synthetic fibres are OK for metals. Remeber to dry the surface afterwards to prevent discolouration if it's plastic.
