I saw an advert for them in one of my older Bike Traders (7th-20th Dec).

Their 50cc and 100cc mopeds, but in the style of choppers/cruisers

They look quite nice (IF your into that sort of thing), but a few things trouble/puzzle me:

Why only £1500 OTR for a new bike (even if it is a moped)
Why does everywhere that has them for sale class them as kids/mini bikes, but the pictures I have seen have women sitting astride them?

Also, has anyone ever seen one in real life? What were your impressions of it?

Yes I've seen one in real life, we went to look at one with my Son over a year ago now.

They are a lovely little bike, but they are just that, a little bike, they are road legal, but anything other than a small built person (such as the teenage girl you will have seen in the ads), would look too big on it.

I say, it looks really nice, it is tried and tested engine, (old Honda C50/SS50 engine) thats been going for thirty years.

There is one parks up in a Hotel car park near here regularly, so I presuume they work there.[/img]

Awww, thats a shame.

Hopefully they will make a bigger bike like that (I'm still toying with the idea of a 125cc Gilera DNA), or at least something that looks like a bike, but without gears.

And before I get the "gears are easy" speach - a new bike is a lot of money to me. If I spend £1500 (bike + insurance) I better damn well like it. No way I'm forking out for a bike that I might not get on with and end up with it on the driveway gathering dust.

On their website its announced as a moped, and a twist-and-go.

I thought the definition of a moped was a gearless bike under so many CCs (125 I think)

A moped is a vehicle of 50cc or less which can either be automatic or geared with a design speed of no more than 30mph in standard form.

Things like aprillia RS50 and Derbi GPR50's are all technicallly mopeds, but if they are derestricted then the are bikes, but v5 will still say moped.

I guess I was reading that wrong. I thought they meant "this is a twist-and-go but its better than the others" rather than "this is not a twist-and-go"

erm...

MO-torcycle with PED-als

moped, get it?

bikes like the fs1e and ss50 are technically mopeds, and as such are unrestricted, as it is legal to ride an unrestricted moped if you are able to pedal it along.
