I just received my new tax disk, because they have run out of the proper perforated ones they are printing them on plain paper and I am meant to cut it out.

Instead I have decided that I am just going to remove the old tax disk and holder and not put the new one on my bike at all.

Will be interesting to see if anyone notices before 1/10/2014 when I can legally remove it anyway.

I, erm, know someone who has been riding for the last two years without displaying the valid tax disk. In this time, he has even chatted with police etc... who have seen it but turned a blind eye. Wouldn't worry about it.

Seriously your peculiar printed one might be worth a bit one day like a stamp with the queens head on upside down - keep it safe with any documentation.

Err, how can they see it, if its NOT there?

TBH I was just looking for a letter and discovered the tax disc for the car that ought to have been put in this April.... along with the one from 2012 that similarly failed to find its way from letter-box to car!

Hate to break it to you. Any tax bought before 1st Oct must be displayed until the end of the tax on the disk. So if you taxed your bike today, you have to display it until tuns out. Wink

Had my bike eye'd up by the plod a short while ago, plate, exhaust and after a good few attempts got a 0.9mm reading on my rear tire.

No mention of a missing tax disk however...
Hasn't been on there for yonks and tbh its way out dated.

Do they actually prosecute people for not displaying these days?
With ANPR/A quick call over the radio its quicker than it would take to read the tax disk let alone MOT/Insurance info it would give...

Pretty ridiculous...

Ps, got one to from the 1'st of 09...

Just wait until someone clones your plate after the new rules and gives it guns up through the M25's average camera areas or wherever you happen to ride, will you be able to prove to plod that you were specifically someplace else at any given time on any given day!

Nah, not true. I have my letter right here and it doesn't say that at all.

However, I'm undecided as to the intent of your winky emoticon therefore I am going to let this slide and not mention it again.

Yeah but to be fair the only miles that civic sees is to and from the mot station on an annual basis. Laughing

It sees a few more that that... not MANY more... I had to put PETROL in the damn thing yesterday! Bit short having just got back from Wales, deliberated long and hard about sloshing n usual £20's worth and stuck in a tenner's worth... should be OK for a week or so till pay-day. Hey! I drove it to Yorkshire eighteen months ago! Mind you.... Given I live two miles from the Leicestershire boundary, five from Wes tmidlands, and about four from Staffordshire... trying to work out f it has actually left Warwickshire this year.... err... I went to get some tyres from Wheel-house in Water Orton in February.... lets see what county that's in.... YES! its in West-Mids, so it HAS left the county! SEE!
