Just wondering, as I popped to tesco after work this morning and saw the Aprilia SR125 I spent ages fixing up about a year ago "parked" outside.

It now has a badly done handlebar conversion, brembo stickers all over it, a rusty disc, exhaust and the centre stand (brand new when I sold it) appears to have been removed and not replaced, as it was propped up against a trolley bay. Bald tyres, and the classic duct tape seat. It was pristine when I sold it, and the mileage has either barely gone up, or the speedo cable has snapped.

Any of you had a similar experience? I have to admit I was quite disappointed, and maybe slightly offended.

I know it makes no difference, I got the price I wanted for it, and it is a 17 year olds wet dream. But even so!

I saw a Suzuki GSR600 I traded in back in the same dealer a few years later. I wanted to buy it back but couldn't justify to the Mrs having two bikes.

The wrecks from breakers not so much.

But I saw my NTV650 once, it actually looked better as the tank with a massive dent had been replaced and much of it had been matt black painted to hide the damage.

I also saw my Africa Twin. It was immaculate and had been made into a faux RTW machine, ally panniers, GPS nav, touring screen and tank. Touratech all over it. Even had a swingarm side stand for easy maintenance. This was at a RTW planning meeting.

No seen my CBR as it was being exported to Poland the next day.

Sold my CG125 and saw in it my workplace carpark (big supermarket) a few days later, then bumped in to the buyer at the self-service! Very Happy He told me it was a good bike and he was happy with it. Never seen it since though.

See my MZ Skorpion, GS500 & 2nd Bandit 600 all quite regularly as I sold them to mates, everything else never seen again by myself (some friends claim to have seen my CBR 400 once in the streets of Darlington a week after I sold it).

Not in the flesh, but on eBay; the guy I sold my Enfield to spent a ton and did it up cafe racer stylee. Was tempted to buy it back for a short while, but I would have only put it back to standard.

In the dim and distant past , when I still had L-plates, I had a very tidy little Suzuki DR 125 .
I kept that bike in almost new condition and it was in very good order when I sold it.
Two weeks after I sold it, the idiot who bought it, smashed it up!
When I saw it Shocked Crying or Very sad bent forks, broken levers, dented tank, broken front wheel, clocks all smashed, and every single panel or paintwork was scratched to buggery!

Even though it was no longer my bike I felt absolutely gutted!

my first bike was a brand new kawasaki AE80 back in 1985

https://www.ar50.info/images/Catalogue/99943-1207.jpg

back then you had to take your test within 2 years or go back to a 50cc, 18 months later I was riding a 350LC

in 1995 I was riding to work and there was my kwacker 80 on the back of a pick up truck, ironic really as it spent a lot of time on the back of pickups

never yet seen one of my old bikes around.
But sad as it is I have checked a few of the registration number's with the DVLA enquiry on-line, and found that a few of them still are either taxed or sorned!

Not many of my old car's appear to be around now though, but one was a late 90's Metro and it would be orange dust by now anyway!

Hi

My first bike was a Honda H100 and bumped into the new owner about 6 months after I sold it to a trader.

My MBX125 I sold to a friend. And bought back when he crashed it.

Saw my CB400N quite regularly as I sold it to a friend.

Traded my AF1 Futura in for an RS125 in 1993. It turned up for sale on Ebay in 2008 so I bought it back.

Sold my XJ600 Divvy to a guy at work so saw it around a bit. And popped round to change the clutch thrust bearing for him.

We sold Charlottes Bandit to the father of a guy at work and seen it a few times since then.

All the best

Keith

Loads (but then I've owned a lot of bikes). Now and then I see...can't bring myself to call it my first road bike because it's just not the same machine. The tatty old 1976 Fizzy I loved with a passion when I was 16 was transformed from a Hammerite white bundle of Micron-piped loveliness into a bog standard, as new purple abomination by the person I sold it to. Or the person they sold it to (etc).

I see it at bike events occasionally. Last time was at this year's Margate Meltdown. The reg no still makes my heart skip a beat. Seeing it trailered into position and then not even started up makes my heart heavy Crying or Very sad

once saw an old XT250 of mine, I hadn't sold it, it had been nicked several years before. There was so little of it left it wasn't worth bothering with. I only knew it was mine by the "modifications" on it.

The moral of the story? Don't sell your bike to Paddy.

Love you really Padster!

Never sold a bike. The only one I don't technically own anymore is still in the garage, my dad wanted the Vara when I was done.

Although my dad swapped his GS850 for my mates car, I see his bike whenever it's sunny, at least it's getting used... it even looks in better nick than when my dad owned it.

If you've got the room and the money not to need it to put into your next vehicle then your doing it right there! Thumbs Up

I kind of wish I'd not sold some of my old bikes, my first KMX200, and the TZR250, but if I'm completely honest, I have another same colour KMX200 now that could one day be as good as the first one, and I wouldn't have a TZR250 now as I always wanted the TDR250 even more.

The biggest regrets I have are the things I didn't buy, or that I could have had when they were cheap enough!

Bike wise that would be an NS400R jap market import, the Pepsi RG500, a £2000 RD500LC, a brand new KMX125, a 1988 KX500 never raced, a CCM500 two stroke, and a tuned Speed triple, cheap cos it was pink lol!

Car wise, it was a Black MG Maestro turbo, a White MG Metro turbo, a cheap Lancia delta Integrale 8v, a mint 1989 Supra mk3 3.0i, and most of all a 1999 stunning V-plate Mitsubishi GTO that I could have extended my bank loan for, instead of keeping the Hair dresser's convertible I had at the time, and wasting money on lowering it, and a loud exhaust lol!

The one in the middle I saw earlier in the year...Zero thoughts.
The one at the back I can see when visiting my Uncle......Happy thoughts.
The front one I still have....Content thoughts.
