Has anyone used any Amiga emulators? Are there any that would come recommended and work well with current operating systems?

WinUAE has always been really good for gaming, and presumably general emulation of everything from the A500 to the A4000. It will even emulate hard drives and let you install to them.

https://www.winuae.net/

You'll need to provide your own kickstart and workbench, but they can be found at the usual sources.

I loved my Amiga.

My favourite game was SuperFrog, luckily this has just come out on the PS3.

But yeah UAE is great.

Had a 500, then a 1200. Thumbs Up Yeah, Syndicate was cool but I think the game I have spent the most hours on so far in life was Dungeon Master, probably 1989. In fact, it's probably just the best single player gaming experience I've had overall so far.

Others...
Blood Money - pretty, amusing intro, otherwise not so memorable.
Shadoworlds - great lighting effects
Legend - amazing magic system
Exile - initally underwhelming, but eventually great
Alien Breed - fab music, good gameplay
Bloodwych - odd little game, but very much enjoyed it Thinking

And many more...

Still got my 500 in it's original box - might try firing it up today. Given that it must be around 25 years old now I think the chances of it working are slim! Laughing

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and now Supercars 2 won't run under WinUAE. D'oh.

Some years ago I fired up the A500 I owned up after about 15 years in the attic and it worked. Shocked I think they were quite solidly made.

I have a 1200, 500 and 1500 that spent a few years up in the loft. None of them will read disks anymore and the picture quality is terrible. I can only imagine the extremes of temperature and damp upset them Sad

I have a 1200 but the hard drive keeps spinning up and clicking off, it could be the huge 200Mb capacity which is slowing it down.

Has anyone tried an IDE SD card? I have WinUAE but it would be good to fire up the old brute again.

Yep, Chaos Engine and Dune II kept me busy in the day.
