I've just bought my friends R1 after him having a nasty highside at Brands Hatch. The bike is straight although it has a dent on the mainframe.

My belief is that it won't be able to go back on the road with the dent so it's either convert to track or break it.

If I turn into a track bike would people still be interested in buying it? Ill get pics up shortly.

Bit late to ask if you've bought it already isn't It Laughing

Tbh if your gonna be smashing it around a track I really wouldn't worry, aslong as it rides straight and isn't gonna break into 5 million pieces what's the worry, I'm sure ul put more dents in it!

Just a dent with no crack? How big, where etc is what counts. There's no law that says you can't ride a bike with a dent in the frame.

If you're worried about cracks have it dye pen tested but otherwise it's pretty-much all up to you.

I have a road bike that's passed 4 MOT's with a badly welded crack in the frame so a dent wouldn't bother me.

(The crack bothers me a bit but I'm going to rebuild with a non cracked frame soon).

Mattspratt on here (I use on here loosely) had a zx6r with a dent in the frame, no problems the time he had it.

Thanks for replies. I've added pics. I've bought it with the intention of either making a track bike of it and selling or breaking it.

My friend chipped a vertebrae from the high side Crying or Very sad . It's on video as well, I'll be putting it on youtube.

I think it would cost too much to be put back on the road.

Owned and ridden two bikes on the road with dents in the frame.
One I put there, the other I bought with the dent as a race bike and put back on the road.

Dents didn't cause any problems - I believe eventually the dent became a crack and was either welded or reframed two owners down the line.

Here's the vid onboard, skip to 10.20 for the final lap and high side:

They're aloud everywhere they go, from what G is saying, they're allowed back on the road... Laughing

I'd use that on the road.

Too much power with bike over by the looks. Also he sits crooked too, my video of my first few laps is very similar Laughing

On my screen now it looks as though he is using 240/30-12 wheels and tyres. Laughing So squished.

I'd [unt it for a track bike definitely, but I'd use on the road just as happily.

Caused my the clip on? Got the exact same dent except on the other side on my FZR400. No problems with the bike or MOT, Wouldn't think twice about it.

Mine wasn't anywhere as bad as that though, and it's basically taken out the strongest point of the frame.

I'd still ride it though.

It's on par with an RSV mille I bought to return to the road a few years ago, that was too far gone for me to fix up.
