Man, I see in BCF the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering.

With all the engineering, manufacturing and mechanical brains here why can't we make things which work.

So I'm wondering why doesn't BCF have an engineering department.

For example BCF could come together and design AND build a reg/rec better than Honda can build one. (ok so better than Honda is not a massive challenge).

Similarly we could build a better cam chain tensioner etc.

Or even some kind of chain oiler that doesn't oil your tyre. Laughing

British men in sheds like Sponde, Hagon, Maxton etc out built the Japanese big 4 in the 70s and 80s. Surely we can do this again.

We'd land up with "The Homer". Laughing

At risk of re-inventing the wheel but on my Enfield, you can remove the entire rear subframe and mudguard by undoing four nuts and one snap connector.

I've often thought a QD subframe would be a useful thing for modern motorcycles. Single seat unit for hooning for the day. A tandem seat for taking the missus for a ride out. A "utility" subframe with a huge luggage rack or transport box for going camping/touring. etc. etc.

You'd need to package all the crap they currently bolt to the subframe such as the reg/rec, fuel pump, relays etc elsewhere (in a waterproof box anyone?) and redesign the plastics so they come off with the subframe module.

Don't you find that the most creative and intelligent people prefer to work alone, often with blindfold in place, which brings pluses and minuses.

So, I don't think it would work and wouldn't be in the general spirit of BCF. Mr. Green

Imagine a bike......A bike designed by way of crude polls, assembled by cretins using the finest hammers that Lidl had on offer.

Yet Lidl hammers are likely to be TÜV approved. Which is not to be sneezed at. Would that make the bike TÜV approved too?

Well map, you've just volunteered yourself as Technical Director.... you can do those little dots above the letter U and have superior knowledge of Lidl.

Fail!
Doesn't include the words Turbo, or even Supercharger. How do you expect that to sell? Confused

Could BCF design a better one - probably.
Could BCF design a better one at not too silly a price - possibly.
Could BCF developer a better one that's commercially viable in similar conditions (considering the many, many costs big business has) - probably no... well, maybe better than the ones Honda use Razz.

I think if its for mainly road use and comfortable high speed road use, then said 2stroke adventure bike needs to be a twin or even triple? Dual tanks would be the next major feature!

I have for a long time wanted to see something along the lines of an Aprilia SVX550 (basically a light and capable road going SM chassis), but with something like a 100bhp R6 engine fitted?

Or say something like the KTM690SM with a 4cyl 100bhp un-burstable reliable engine, that could be achieved easily with 600cc's.
