 |
|
My little MSX and its bigger brother, then NC750x are currently locked together via an Almax 3 chain which goes through the back wheels of both, and a ground anchor that sits between the two.
I've just renewed the insurance on the MSX, and it's now fully comp, however, despite declaring no security, the small print of the insurance requires that it needs to be secured by a lock which is 'sold secure' standard. I've checked the almax website, and none of their chains are certified 'sold secure'.
I do have an oxford 10mm chain, that doesn't look like it would stop anyone for very long, and I can't be bothered using 2 locks on the bike, that sounds a massive PITA.
Should I
A) go with the crappy lock, and rely on the insurance
B) stick with the almax and ground anchor, but invalidate insurance
C) something else ____________________ Fisty: after polishing the tank with the glistenng beads of sweat from my full hot scrotum, I filled the headrace bearings with 10cc of my manmilk |

Secure it with the Almax.
In the event that it gets stolen, snap the Oxford in half with your bare hands, scatter the shards around and say "Yeah, was totes Sold Secured."
This small print, does it only apply at your home address, or when out and about as well? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

For an affordable disc lock there's the datatool devil 1000. Available for ballpark £20 or less from the likes of ebay or amazon.
I got one as a spare lock. Fits under the seat.
That's Thatcham approved though, not sold secure. I think they are competing approval organisations so might be worth getting something in writing from insurance that it would be ok.
Your insurance would imply you must do something like take a photo of the lock as proof every time you park the bike. ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...
