Can I get insurance and ride before my licence has arrived?

Due to a recent 'offence' I had my licence revoked under the new drivers act. I applied for a provisional over a week ago, and am waiting for it to get sent out, but looking to buy a 125 this week and start riding asap.

Can I ride/get incurance yet?

Thanks

no,

You have to resit your CBT.
You can only do your CBT when you have your prov licence.

I am pretty sure my old CBT is still in date (or would I have to do that again as well still)

Quoted from here: https://www.yourdrivinglicence.co.uk/new-drivers-act.html

How Do I Get My Licence Back?
To get you licence back you will have obtain a provisional driver's licence and then apply to take your Theory, Hazard Perception and Driving Tests in the normal way. The current fee for renewing your licence after revocation under the New Drivers Act is £50 plus normal test fees.

So you will be needing this:

No need for the theory, hazard perception and driving tests...

FTFY, faggot.

What's the chances of even being asked to product a CBT cert, let alone anyone checking that the license number matches?

No-one's going to care unless the OP has some history of being a troublemak-

OK, fair point. Thumbs Up

umm... No, that is why I was asking for advice. I called DVLA today, provisional is in the post. Was just wondering if it was possible to start riding yet, that was all.
Gonna put off doing a CBT though and just book my car test ASAP. No point in wasting £100, if I am only gonna book my test this month anyway. That way I get my full bike licence back directly.

(I also spoke to DVLA about my 33BHP restriction, apparently I will just get my same restriction dates on there - i.e. if I get a licence this month, my restriction will lift in Nov as usual)

Say you get a car licence, then 6months later you get your bike licence.

From the date of getting your 1st full licence you have 2yrs of no 6points or bye bye all licences.

If you resit and pass your car driving test then you get all licences re-instated.

The 2yrs bollocks is no longer applicable from that date.

Edit:- Did OP already have a full car licence?

iirc, he did have a full license. He got it revoked I think for letting his friend with no license or insurance drive his car.

Yep,

Full bike licence gained in Nov 2012. Passed car test in March 2014.

Got 6 points for IN14 - Permitting someone to drive uninsured (yes in a car park). New drivers act means I get full licence revoked.

If I pass any test that I previously had entitlement for (in this case Car and bike) I get all Perviously held entitlements back.

Therefore, if I pass car test I get my full bike licence back.
Screw paying £100 quid towards CBT, if I can put that money towards passing a car test and still get to ride the bike.

Shame, that I can't use my old CBT. Shouldn't have to do it at all if I have proved to be able to pass a full test Rolling Eyes
See you on the roads in a month.

p.s. bought my 125 today, that is sticking firmly off road until I am all legal!

As far as I am aware you were told wrong. The revoking of the licence basically means your licence does not exist any more so you have to re apply for a new licence. That means you will have to do a new CBT. You will have to resit a theory and you will have to re do mod 1 and 2.

Sadly for you, you will be subject to the 3rd directive so depending on your age you will either have to do DAS on an A2 or an A class bike. Your 33BHP will not stand because that licence does not exist.

But if he re-sits his car test then his bike licence, along with the accompanying restriction, should be re-instated.

Loophole. Car test will bring back both parts of the licence. Strange but thats the way it works.

I thought you only got back all your entitlements in the event of an extended test after a disqualification? AFAIK in a revocation you'll go back to zero and start again on all categories.
Revocation and disqualification are two completely different things.
