Hi All, just wanted to introduce myself before jumping right in.

I am very much a noob at the moment but am hugely enjoying riding.

Both my Father and Brother ride so it was only a matter of time before I did.

I currently have a Yamaha YBR 125 and plan to have it for a year or so before doing my full bike test.

So yeah, hello and look forward to getting involved.

Good choice, but to anticipate your answer: why wait? The tests aren't particularly hard, people pass them with hours of practice.

And some fail them after years of practice. Shifty

Im 26, Thought it may be an idea to get a few miles under my belt to see how I like it and experience.

However, it seems for every mile, the worse the itch gets to jump right in.

So yeah I am very tempted.

I managed 8 months on a 125 after actually passing my test.I did a lot of motorway riding too Smile
The L's were off and that was enough for a while but the draw of a bigger bike became too strong once the summer came.
It wont hurt to ride the 125 though winter.Once march comes then maybe thing about taking your test imo.
You'll have had plenty of experience by then

I rode a 125 for a year. Mostly short commutes and low speed fun jaunts. I was very happy on it. Am I glad that I waited that long before getting licensed up?

No, not really, with hindsight. Bigger bikes offer so much more. Ride one and you'll find out why. More stable, better brakes and suspension, actually easier to ride.

And I'm not even talking about the 600+ bikes that you'll have to use to get your full A license now. I'm currently looking to downgrade to a 300 or thereabouts, but it's all good, you'll find a bike that you like.

Howdy! Yeah, you won't last a year on a 125 Smile. After 3 months you start getting the itch, 6 months the shakes, 9 months you find yourself dry humping random sports bikes in car parks...

This made me LOL Very Happy

It pretty much sums my feelings up hahahah
