I found the theory quite easy but, a bit of swatting will certainly improve your chances. It's the Hazard Perception part that's the trickiest imo. Have a look at some practice clips online and keep doing them over and over, even when you're sick to death of them. You only have to do this once in your life (or twice if you sit the Manx one and them move to the UK before passing the riding test) Brick Wall , if you pass, so make sure you get it first time.

Good luck Thumbs Up

The theory is easy if you relax. If you don't you'll probably forget everything.

The Mod 1 is really quite easy. Good luck Thumbs Up

Excellent. It's a stressful grind to get through the tests, but it really is all worth it when you hear "I'm pleased to tell you..."

Don't over think the case study section of the theory test, trust me it's aimed at people with single digit IQs.

Don't press too many times on the hazard perception part as it can lock you out of that question and give you a zero if you smash your hand on the screen like a lemon.

Good luck!

Oh and wash your ears before hand, if you have long hair they want to look and see if you have anything hidden in there, and I spent the whole test paranoid I had dirty ears...

At the end of the test, something like this...
You're approaching a roundabout, on your inside is a broken down traction engine, a police unicyclist is clearly about to overtake you.

1) which Chas and Dave song should you be humming?
2) which colour Smarti is generally considered bad for you?

I'd say buy the official DVD motorcycle theory test primer and just do mock test after mock test. Personally I found the hazard perception an absolute piece of piss and always got a high score so never bothered to keep practicing it, but cramming the correct answers to as many questions into your head is beneficial. The important stuff will stick with you after the test as well probably.

MOD1 is a load of controlled manoeuvres, MOD2 is actual road riding. There's loads of threads on both of those.

Since everyone else has covered theory, most of your practice should be Mod1. You've been riding your 125 for a while so Mod2 will be easy for you. Practice U turns and figure of 8s a LOT up until your test, its better to start practicing the physical side early. Try get your U turns in 2 and a half carpark bays, and practice tightening your figure of 8s. Also get used to how much front brake you can use, accelerate as quick as you can and hit the brakes once you get up to 32, then try shorten the stopping distance each time until you're happy with it. Use mainly front brake as you would on test because the rear doesn't provide much braking force and its easy to lock up and therefore fail. Slow speed is all in the clutch, keep revs constant when doing figure of 8s and U turns/slalom and use clutch to control speed. Feathering the back brake really makes it easier but people apparently say its cheating, to which I say fuck off I want to make my test as easy as possible. Aside from that, practice obs/road position and speed limits and mod 2 will be easy. Good luck Thumbs Up

Another vote here for practicing the U turn, it's what got me on the test. Even though I'd practiced it over and over and could manage it no problem. Yet, come test day, nerves got the better of me and I went into it with too much speed, panicked, clipped the curb, lost balance and ballsed up by putting a foot down.

I'm still kicking myself over it to this day.

As is my understanding you can have both booked, but you can't actually do them without the relevant passes (only theory for MOD1, theory and MOD1 for the MOD2).

I think you do need the theory test number for booking the tests yourself. The school I used didn't have pre-booked slots, so needed the number as well.

All I needed to book the test was my CBT number but, I had to bring my theory test certs with me to the actual test, were they were scrutinised by the examiner.

This was in the land of the small and hairy people though so, things might be different in the civilised world.
