I firmly believe U2 haven't made an album worth listening to/owning since 1991's The Joshua Tree. There's maybe two songs after that I like and one is a remix: Even Better Than The Real Thing [Oakenfold aka Perfecto remix] & Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me (the credits theme - well, after Kiss From A Rose by SEAL - from the hit-and-miss Batman Forever).

So yeah. Bad Apple. It's not enough you have to use iTunes to sync with your iPhone/iPad if you have them, they've now dumped a crocky U2 album on all that can download it. Lame.

Nice first world problem though, something else for the drama queens on Twitter to grok about no doubt... in droves, like they do.

I used to really quite like U2, All That You Can't Leave Behind was their last good album I think, back in 2000.

Joshua Tree was one of the greatest albums ever I think.

But now I shall never listen to another U2 song again out of principle of having this new album rammed down my throat.
(I can't actually promise this as it's unlikely I'll stick to it, they have some pretty good songs)

Really hope its not a sign of things to come where we don't have a choice about what we are forcibly exposed to.

I never had an ipad before a few months ago and was a bit pissed off because I thought you had to use itunes for downloading music and movies, but then I found a program called Syncios. You can then plug in your iphone or ipad to your laptop and upload from your pc to them.
I download from torrent sites music and movies, and all works a treat. I must admit I was a bit scared to try it, but it is quite easy and saves me buying anything from you know who

for those interested https://www.syncios.com/

When it comes to IOS updating, does apple still check your phone/pad and bugger up programmes they don't like being on there?

I'm sure someone said if you root your Iphone it gets bricked during a software update!

I think the general consensus is, if you want simplicity go for an iPhone, if you want flexibility go for an Android smartphone. Depends what you want/need really.

Polar' the software is only on your pc/laptop and it only uploads what you want to transfer, as far as i can see. There is nothing of the software on the ipad/phone

Ironic that the simple one costs so much more.

Oh wait, that's not ironic, that's just retarded.

The irony that people are needing to delete photos, videos and music in order to install iOS8... a week after Apple forcefully downloaded unwanted music to every device

They didn't forcibly download anything. They forcibly put it in your iTunes account. On my phone and iPads the tracks show as still being 'in the cloud' (ie, not taking up space on my devices).

But then I have them set up to not automatically add content that is downloaded to another device.

They've released a U2 removal tool, to take out the other four tools Smile

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-29208540

With Paul O'Grady running Apple, this sort of thing is no surprise.

Apparently if you do this via iTunes you won't need to delete anything, takes a tad longer I think but still works.

If you download iOS8 over wifi or using your internets on your phone it takes up nearly 5gb. If you wait until you plug it into your computer with iTunes account it takes up the normal amount of room. Also none of my iThings have had U2 forced on them as I turned off automatic updates.

I'm liking the medical ID bit, useful to have on your phone if you are out for a ride and get taken out. I doubt many paramedics or police will use it though Sad

U2 normally manage their chart success by the number of petrol bombs thrown in Northern Ireland, they can only fund so many nowadays what with the cost of petrol and the lack of local milkmen to supply the bottles. Laughing Laughing
