Hi all,

Planning on builidng a garage next year so wouldn't mind just trying to do a few 3D plans of the garden before and after etc etc.

Anyone know of any decent software for this type of job? Not looking for anything too indepth and complicated, so not wanting to pay $599 for some crap google brings up.

Cheers

Google sketchup is free and not that hard to use. I can't bloody stand it but then I used to sell solidworks and autocad products ...and they cost thousands!

Does it need downloading or can it be used through the browser? Might be able to try it at work if its the latter

Download only, and Google got shot of it a while back. Still available, but it's not a Google product (which mainly just means that it doesn't have the word 'beta' plastered all over it).

Ahh just had a look at the site i did actually try downloading this last night.

Installtion kept failing something to do with the .NET framework.

Means nothing to me so might have to give that one a miss.

Balls.

I would imagine that it just wants you to update the .NET framework software. You can get it from the microsoft site easily enough.

Indeed.

Used it for the first time last week. Watched the 4 onsite tutorials, found it easy to use even with my addled brain.
Using it to plan a small music room so being able to add 3d models of equipment and instruments was welcomed.
