Embarassed meant to go in General. Bleh, woops.

Mr. Green

Now I would've taken more photos but the problem is the battery on my phone is well and truly fucked and decides it has 0% juice left despite displaying 70%.. Screen flickers, battery goes empty, pictures don't save. Ordered a new battery anyway now so more pics later. Happened like 6 times today so no GPS going anywhere. Had to rely on my terrible sign-reading skills to get me about today hence only managed around 100 miles on the bike today. Ass is sore, it's not a lie, ninja 300's seat starts off bearably comfy and goes downhill from there. I'll get used to it. It's a lot smaller in the saddle than I thought but I absolutely love it.

There were more pics but they didn't save because my phone just died on me. Blah. So no bug-eyed frontal view and whatnot.

That's my mate's DRZ400SM, we went on a ride somewhere (no clue where) and ended up taking a shitload of pictures, but this is the only one that didn't go completely corrupt.

Just my luck, actually make an effort to take pics, and they all vanish.

But yeah I really love this bike man, it's worlds apart from the 125 I used to own, I dunno how I found the 125 any fun compared to this. It's so much faster, granted it's not got anything on the IL4s or large twins.

So, I've ordered an MGP Growler slip-on exhaust, a nicer screen, and some shorty levers so far.. But they're going to take ages to come yet so I have to put up with it sounding like a washing machine. It does sound alright but it's far too quiet for my liking. My mate's DRZ with it's scorpion can drowned out my own engine sound.

Yeah. Loving it. Mr. Green Mr. Green

How'd the chain get so slack in just 100 miles? Eh?

I'd have one, although rather you than me at that sticker price. Hurt

Aye. Laughing

Does it weigh much more than the R125? and I guess you're have to use less gear changes too. I find the 1st gear on the R almost pointless and choppy as hell.

I nearly went for one of these. Mostly on the basis of the looks and slipper clutch. I'm not a big fella
at all but I sat on one and it felt tiny. I was always going to be doing a lot of riding with a pillion and my wifes
ample butt would overpower the rear seat on a Ninja 300 in seconds. And probably be quite uncomfortable for
her for any length of time. I also worried it would struggle a bit two up. As things have panned out the ER6f
I did buy is noticeably slower two up as well so my worries about the smaller bike were probably justified.

But if I were a good 20 years younger and 2 stone lighter I'd have one.
Nice bike Thumbs Up (but get a tail tidy on it....)

Ehh the chains not slack? XD

Tbh because the seat is very, and i mean very low, the weight doesn't feel that much different to the R125 even though it's about 30kg heavier. You're sat more in the bike, imo its much more comfortable.

The saddle is a fucksite shorter though so at first it'll feel a little more cramped than the R125 but I got used to it quick. If you want to tuck fully your knees will be quite literally under your armpits as opposed to the R125 which was a little less strain to go full lean over. But I never leaned over the tank much, its got a more comfortable upright position.

It does feel smaller than the R125 but it goes like the clappers in comparison. I was shifting a lot, deliberately short-shifting to keep it in the low revs. After it's first service and a few oil changes I can let you know if I'll be changing gears as much Razz tbh though what really surprised me was going from 50-70mph in gear 6 and how much pull it still had before even hitting 8k rpm.

I dont understand the complaint that the Ninja 300's first gear is too short, at around 5k rpm it's at 15mph, that's enough for pulling off imo, unless you're someone who likes to redline your bike in 1st gear :S - but yeah it's a lot better than the R125's first gear, which is as you said choppy and pointless (but kind of needed because gear 2 sucked on the R125 for pulling off from a stand still lol)

Forgot about the tail tidy, knew I was missing something. I saw a cheap £20 one on eBay, and saw an expensive R&G tail tidy for almost triple-quadruple the price.. Wtf is the difference?

I noticed I didn't blip any throttle at all like on the 125, it didn't need it, I think it was the low RPMs that let me dump the clutch on downshifts and it wasn't jerky at all, not sure if that's just the slipper clutch or if I'll be needing to blip when im downshifting in higher revs.. so far I've only got it up to 8k revs a few times on my short travels today.

Yeah I dunno if I would be confident carrying anyone over 80 kilos on the back of this thing haha the seat is quite small, and the pillion seat even smaller, but its suspension seems pretty nice, it doesn't sag as much as my old 125, more stiff.

End of review thus far Laughing

Wow, looks great in white! Will look and sound even better with that slip-on. The screen you ordered, was it a tinted one? Would look great on your bike.

It's one of those iridium fancy-coloured ones, hopefully it's as shiny as it looks in the pics Laughing

Got a 250 and although the seat looks like a piece of wood like on the 300, I've done 3 hours straight with no arse pain at all Smile You probably get used to it but I cant remember ever really suffering.
You feel it slightly in the wrists but only slightly.
I love riding the ninja. The riding position and handling are great.
I honestly prefer riding it over the z750 but obviously it lacks the speed. But tbh I rarely ever go fast on the 750 anyway.
I don't know if the 300 is the same but the 250 doesn't really shift till 9 or 10k.Well I say really shift Smile

Haha I wouldn't know haven't ridden a 250, but the 300 seems to have the ability to pull away at any time even when you're in the middle of the revs in top gear.

One thing I did notice which is very different to the 125 is it gets very warm. Like it radiates heat out of the fairings/top area. Could this be because of the start-stop nature of London's roads? No overheating cause I didnt see any warning lights and it didn't cut out, fan didn't seem to come on either, but it does get mighty warm down there lol.

Yeah they are pretty good at low revs but about 9 or 10k you get a bit more pull.
I think the 300 pulls better lower down than the 250 from what I've seen.
Want to go out on mine now but weather is so miserable here grr

Ah nice. From my experiences, iridium stuff always looks as good, if not better than the picture. I doubt you'll be disappointed. Smile

Yeah I'll wait a week or so and go for the rear sets, tail tidy, & crash bungs, but not sure I fancy a smaller plate though cause I'll already have attention drawn to me with the loud exhaust and think a smaller plate would be pushing my luck haha.

As for rear sets I'm quite happy with the ones I got, but if you can get fancy blue ones I'd slap those right on my bike.. Time to go look on eBay Thumbs Up Laughing

Things maybe a little different there. Saw a gsxr with a 6x4", thought it was taking the piss a bit, but he swears he hadn't been pulled in the year it's been on, so I just put on a 9x3". Filtered past a few cop cars with my scorpion end can - baffled removed and no reaction. Thumbs Up

S'up to you though. I am prepared for the fines, and that's the choice I've taken.

Does look better though. Very Happy

So I did these minor things to the bike so far. Still missing the tail tidy & crash bungs. Also got an SR-i900 alarm waiting for me in the post 'coz i liv on a dodgy est8 blud, init. The exhaust was a bit of a cunt to mount tbh, one bit was pissing me off and it didn't come with any instructions. Anyhow, I think I'll be lazy and keep the exhaust on the bike when I go to get it's first service (should I risk that?) bleh pics:

You should change for a burberry screen and gold levers, it would look less chavvy Thumbs Up Wink

Black screen and black levers would have looked pretty tasty on the white bike IMO. Still. Not my bike, and given what I ride around on I don't have much room to comment on looks Laughing

What's it like to ride? Is it properly run in now? It would make a tempting commuter if it's reasonably economical.
