Had some RST touring kit, apparently only available in j&s. Got a cut in the trousers when I had that rear ending in august. Been riding in my textiles but time for replacements. I tried some R-14 trousers. The fit is really nice, and the armour is in a padded pocket that opens from below rather than having velco across my kneecap, so design is much improved. They look a little sportier than I'd like, but no kneesliders, which would be redundant on a wheezy cruiser.

They're more flexible than I'm used to thanks to the stretch panel, and the elastication on the waistband means they stay up better than the touring jeans, so no danger of needing braces. The only thing I'm not so keen on is the fit across the crotch, which is snug and due to the stiching lines it accentuates the shape of everything.

They feel less warm than my touring jeans, so a bonus in the summer, and havent absorbed any of the drizzle I have been riding in, even in the stretch panels, which I thought would saturate with water at the slightest hint of rain. Not had them on in a downpour yet, and I'm waiting for zup.ie to ship me a separates extender as the zip is standard RST, my the touring having old style 8 inch zips. I suspect my next jacket will be RST to match the rest of my kit so no pomt having trousers altered.
