Anyone know if Bajaj import to the UK? I've recently seen a couple of youtube videos on the new Pulsar CS400. It's basically a KTM duke 390 but I think it looks a lot better than the KTM. I'll be looking to replace the scoot in the new year one of these may well fit the bill.

I'd love to read your sources for that. The ones that say that the Bajaj engine made in the same factory as the "KTM" engine is a "knock-off" of it.

I'm sitting comfortably, take your time and be as detailed as you like.

You mean, secret dealers that don't advertise themselves and can't be found by Googling, right?

Go round the back of the Hammersmith Odeon, there's a little lock-up signed "Achmed's Kebabs and Soft Furnishings". Knock three times, say "The Red Kipper flies at midnight.", they'll sort you out.

Shhh!

1. It hasn't been called the Hammersmith Odeon since 1993.

2. There are no shops behind it, its all flats.

Just to add some perspective to those who might have mild case of xenophobia etc...

Bajaj has been in motorbike / scooter business for ages. My father's first automobile purchase was a 150cc Bajaj Chetak scooter. Bajaj sold that scooter from 1972 to 2009. It lasted so well, decades later I rode it to university!

KTM-Bajaj partnership is real too - Bajaj first bought 14.5% in KTM and later in 2011 increased that to 25%. Not sure what the percentage is now. Bajaj is a huge conglomerate like Hyundai, Honda etc - they are into many things and the 25% of KTM is one of the many small investments to them. KTM 200 and Pulsar 200 is are manufactured in Pune in India. KTM intends to produce more of their bikes in India and to export to global markets. Bajaj is doing to motorcycle market what Tata is doing with cars.

Over all this is all good news. More markets coming together means more sales, cost-savings on scale, and ultimately better biking experience for bikers - Achmed, Appu, Dave, Olaf, Bruce, Zhang or whatever name they go by.

Looks pretty wacist to me.

I wonder what the net profit is on painting a Bajaj orange and slapping a KTM sticker on it.

OK, the first reply to your post should have been "No. /thread".

Happier?

I would buy an honestly branded Bajaj in the UK, at the right price, and with decent support. I can't though. First world problems.

I had a Bajaj that was officially imported into the UK.

A KB100 which was just a copy of a KH100 with a drum front end.

1994 vintage it was, it still works and quite well!

It was made under licence by Kawasaki and shared exactly the same engine. It doesnt even look that bad compared to the chinese stuff thats only a few years old.
