This is why you don't overtake bunched up vehicles at high relative speed. I normally slow until I see the brake lights from the following car - it means they were going to overtake, looked in mirror and saw me. But sometimes they don't look.

Yep, couple of times. Bit lower speed wise than that though. Twice it would have been the cage driver's fault, once it would have been mine. Progressive braking works, even when it looks like it's time to e-stop.
