Had a great time at Rothesay Weekend on Saturday. The event last two days and includes a hill climb, TT, 2-up TT, Novice Road Race, ATR, and of course Cyclocross (ButeCross).

I did the hill climb and the CX, vids below:

Looks like you were doing a fair bit better than last time! Great weather for it and looks like a great circuit too. How long does a typical 'race' last? Do you find yourself having to pace yourself? I need to get into this soon!

Yeah did a bit better, 17th male overall (of 42). Think it definitely helps to start near the front and start hard!

Weather was amazing and the course was fairly flat and fast. Wee technical section was good, some of the better guys could ride up the hill I could hardly crawl up! Good fun though!

You don't really think about pacing yourself as you really just need to go for it in the first lap. I generally find myself knackered half way through then find a second wind sort of thing. I guess you really just need to figure out the best places to take a breather and where you have to attack. Take any opportunity you can to make up places.

Races last 50 minutes plus a lap. Basically once the leader has completed 50 mins plus a lap the other riders finish the lap they're on and that's it.

Should definitely get into it, most fun you'll have on a bike and the races are really friendly, great folk, and atmosphere! Missed out on my beer token handout this time, boo!

Got one in Irvine that our club is organising, also one in Ayr this year, Falkirk, Hallocross in Dalkeith, and maybe a few more, see how it goes.
