Took a ride out this afternoon and came home via the docks. Still a fair amount going on but parts are like a ghost town.

You can tell why they chose it for a battlefront scene in a movie. Laughing

Some nice arty photos.

I understand Grimsby is where you can weld with extreme precision. Fish finger factory is another matter. Wink

That is beautiful and needs to be preserved.

I couldn't agree more.

This is an example of what can be done.

Liverpools' Albert dock in the 80's after years of neglect. Even the docks themselves had silted up.

And now, after regeneration.

And to think that there were plans to demolish it at one point, as it had fallen into such a bad state.

So many of these old buildings are absolutely fantastic and of a like we'll never see built again. They really are worth preserving and put to use.

I forgot that Grimsby is where they store the special one. Does the area smell like a combination of fishfingers and faeces?

Hate watching Victorian architecture go to wrack and ruin. It's so well built and engineered it feels a waste.

Nice pics

Most of the docks is a shit hole, the old ice house wants pulling down before it falls down. A good percentage has already been pulled down and there is a lot of investment going into the area for the wind turbine industry.
95 per cent of the fish that comes into Grimsby these days is landed elsewhere and brought in overland in lorry's.
The old fish dock is now full of yachts instead of trawlers and most of the commercial boats that sail from there are wind turbine transfer boats.
P.S....... I need to get out on my bike more Rolling Eyes
