Far as I'm aware it depends on the policy. ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

Hmmm. I'll have to double check. Every car insurance policy I've ever had, since turning 25 or so, has allowed me to drive other vehicles, and I've clarified that as part of the quote. In fairness, that's probably answering my own question.
As for 25 - unfortunately I've been more than 25 for so long I can't remember what it was like not to be. |

My last 3 years worth of TPFT policies on my bike have it included, and so have the last 5 years of FC on my cars.
But I always see it as an extra, not something automatically included |

If you are going to drive someone else's car or bike on your own insurance, the other car / bike has to have insurance in effect aswell. ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)

The other thing to do is agree 'you bin it, you've bought it'. Will lead to a whole load of bother if you don't... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

I'm TPFT and can. If I remember correctly however there is a limitation on my policy preventing me from riding bikes of less than 300cc. Figure that one out! ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Hi, this is me first post
If the other vehicle was not insured then it would not be taxed so would not be road legal.
Surely even if your insurance still applies the vehicle could be towed away due to no tax? |

for Pryor, a true British (well, English) hero.
Note of caution though: Pryor means that seizure is unlawful based on the plain wording of the Certificate of Insurance, if you produce it at the time.
I'd read the policy document as well, because if it contradicts the certificate, you may find yourself having to go through much the same extended process as Mr Pryor did in order to reach Grown Up Court.

Splendid entrance, well spotted.
However, it could legally be on its way to or from an MOT, and that's not a hypothetical situation. If you want to MOT an uninsured, SORNed bike languishing in the shed without splashing out on insurance (i.e. you just want to sell it), then you can get a suitably insured chum to ride it to and from the MOT, job done. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
