Hi guys, new user here!
Is it possible or will I have to do my full test?
I'm doing a season snowboarding later on this year and after that I'm planning on hiring a bike and doing a bit of riding.

Entirely up to Canada, chap.

It actually appears to be a provincial decision.

Interesting question, please let us know the answer.

yeh the hire company will let you know (email now)

if you are allowed, be prepared for some of the politest driving you are likely to come across. The 4-way stop, where everyone takes their turn, turning right through a red light unless there are pedestrians, and so it goes on. One thing to watch, most intersections are stop (not what we call give way) so no "rolling stops" you need to stop properly regardless, even if you are the only car on the road for miles around.

Thanks for the answers guys.

Yeah, the provincial problem could be tricky. One province could allow it but another could flat out refuse it.

Think I'm best getting in touch with the dvla and see what they have to say.

You mean an A2 full licence, right?
As in you've passed Mod 1&2 on an A2 bike?
If it's a learner permit then no.

You're able to drive as a visitor with no issue, but the issue might be how long you're there. It's either 3 or 6 months, not sure.

You can hire and drive a car in Canada using a full UK driving licence. You don’t need an International Driving Permit. Carry both the plastic photo card and the paper licence with you at all times.

I would say you'll be fine with an A2 type bike - because that's what your licence is for. Thumbs Up

Sweet, in which Canadian province do you work?

I'm not your buddy, pal.

Minefield ahead

Canada have no idea what an a2 bike is.
I suspect (have not checked) hire bikes likely to be a generic north american v twin.
I found myself this summer giving a Thumbs Up to anyone NOT on a hd

Been doing a little more reading out of curiosity.
It's entirely possible the EU have screwed a load of people by creating a class of licence that doesn't comply with international law.
Found something about the FIM raising it with the UN.

If it was me I'd try to get hold of an International Driving Permit with the motorcycles class on it, ride an A2 compliant bike and keep my head down.

Pack a lawyer.

hired a bike in BC not long ago and I didnt run into any problems, you are supposed to carry both parts of your licenses at all times.
I agree with what others have said, they are very polite and considerate drivers.
